One thing to keep in mind, is the ratings also take into account previous off the field issues, and how that might possibly keep them from contributing in the future. He has transferred from a D1 program already. I don't think it is a problem, but they take that into account.

Sounds like it goes with #1 & #3. Plus, there ain't nothing wrong with putting one's social life on the shelf for a brief period...if need be. With be selfish I think he means to make sure he takes care of his needs first before letting other people take over his time/energy. To be great you have to remain focused on your goal and to a certain degree this takes selfishness to accomplish
