'14 KY DT Matt Elam

He hoped to catch the Tennessee-Georgia game last week and while he wishes he had made the trip to Knoxville, it’s likely the Vols land one of his two remaining officials.

“I got to watch a little bit of it, but I kept up with the score updates on my phone. It looked like a great game. My coach told me we should’ve gone to that game and I was like, ‘I know.’

“I’m leaning towards Tennessee for one (official) and then with Louisville and Ohio State, it will probably be a tossup between those two. I think it would be between the Notre Dame one and the Kentucky one.”

“I talk to Coach Jones and Coach Saban a lot. I talk to Coach Stoops almost every week. I feel like there are different personalities with all of those coaches. I would say Coach Saban is more like the manager, not playing around type of guy, Coach Stoops is someone you can talk to about everything. I would say Coach Jones is all about staying focused on what you need to do. They all have different personalities that work for them.”

Elam is making it sound like it's coming down to UK, UT, and Bama. Pretty good news.

I was just wondering what happened with his recruitment. It was a buzz about him for a while and then everything just went quiet.

Is he overrated, or is he a take right now? I know that you can not teach size, but size is not necessarily everything.

IMO he is a ND lean with UK being next. Don't think we are really in this one.

Watch film on this kid.......... at 6' 6'' 360lbs the kid moves like a pois maulingint gaurd. From what I can tell he and Moseley are very similar in size. But i believe Elam is more agile, more fast twitched. Making him a better D-Tackle prospect. Personally I like Moseley at O-Tackle. The talent level in the state of Kentucky is less than stellar to say the least. So Elam is just mauling kids at times, however you can still see his tremendous athleticism.

Just to clarify. Moseley is our CB commit. Mosley is an OG/DT prospect. The size differential between the two is pretty significant. :)

I think you're right on Elam's athleticism. He would be a huge pickup at DT - no pun intended.

Yes sorry for the misspelled last name. And that should have been Elam has feet like a point guard. First week posting I'll get the hang of it.

I was wondering what "pois maulingint" was. The only thing I could find was that "pois" was an acronym for Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome. Didn't know where you were going with the post for a minute.

Please stop making predictions man, they're all dead wrong. From Cortez McDowell, to DonTavius Blair, to the DT situation, to the Oregon game.

Everyone and their grandma knows its UK and UA 1a 1b.

Here's the thing on Elam. Wharton has been trying for months to get Elam on an unofficial. Big Charles Mosley has been in contact with Elam as well. If Mosley will commit and we get an Official from Elam and we put those commit's on him for say.......... "South Carolina" and he is Definitely ours. Surely no one takes an official to Tennessee and picks Kentucky. I don't care were your from.

That's because he has not visited. Once any prospect visits Tennessee for the first time they immediately become a top 5 consideration

If you got Mosley and Elam playing next to each other on running downs, they ain't gonna be none of dat running up the middle going on. That's a stone wall. And when you got that, LB's and safeties can fly to the edges/corners to clean up.

Would be a heck of a DL haul, if we could get both of those guys committed/signed. As for Mosely on the OL, we're good on the OL for the next few years. We already have our starting OL, with Blair's commitment.

LT - Blair
LG - M. Jackson
C - Crowder
RG - Weisman
RT - Kerbyson or Orlando Brown

We need a few BIG DT's in this class, in order to compete with the Bama's, LSU's and Florida's of this conference.

Brown won't be ready. I agree with everything else though. Kerbyson/Sanders/Kendrick battling for that RT spot
