'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

You'd think a kid like this...fast--you can't teach speed, instinctive--also a natural gift, supported by his parents, good kid... would really develop next year under leadership from Butch Jones--who sort of acts like a father anyway--and guys like Curt Maggitt and AJ Johnson who are tremendous leaders and also just good guys in general.

Almost a benefit over true freshmen who will have to start right out of the gate due to lack of depth. The other kids will be pressured immediately and will feel it from the coach and the fan base. Difficult for 18 year old kids to process.

He doesn't even turn 18 until this November, so your point is even more appropriate. I really like his talent, but he may need time to grow (literally and figuratively) as a player before he can play in the SEC.

I can't disagree.

If everything here(MDobserver) is true and that happens I am going to be very pissed at the staff.

It's the dynamics of recruiting Bruin.

If Dews doesn't GS, then he is about to get Dominique Booth'd, IMO.

If we do tell Dews to hit the road, I will be mad that the staff waited this long into the process to do it. But it is what it is.

I said IF all that MD has told us is true.

He says a grey shirt is fine and has been agreed to.

He also says they have told the staff no more visits.

If the staff pulls the rug after that there should be hell to pay

I agree.

I never really understood offering a GS to Dews with the LBs we are sitting good with for the 2015 class. I just did not think he was a take for TN at all. With that said, if the staff offered it and Dews accepted it, he should be a Vol.

If the staff pulls the rug i doubt they will be able to recruit the MD area again, but i don't beleive nothing shady is going on, we were told there wasnt enough recruits for this weekend and some coaches will be on the road, if thats not true then like the man said it is what it is!

I believe that to be true, I'm not aware of any recruits coming in this weekend.

So what's the deal MDO, is it still a greyshirt offer? Was it a greyshirt from the beginning? Has the staff said, "don't take any visits."?

What would be considered, "pull the rug"? I'm confused.

They aren't going to pull any rug. So much speculation in this thread would no doubt have anyone nervous, but the staff is not going there.

Great to hear

If there is any shady business you bet your ass I will be here calling a spade a spade.

Hopefully not happening.

I will say this, in my opinion as a parent, i truly believe there is nothing shady going on, we are 100% Tenn, there was a chance he would grayshirt that was told to us in the very beginning, whether he grayshirts or not depends on the numbers in my opinion, if so we are fine with that, if not, everyone knows he will redshirt, he has alot of growing to do, but for now we will wait and see how next weekend goes.

Gotcha. So if there's room he will sign and likely redshirt. If not, he'll greyshirt. Thanks for the clarification!

There are a lot of posters on this board that are parents. We are all fans but as parents no one ever wants to see a kid get jerked around even by our beloved UT. I am with you though. This staff hasn't done anything to show they have been shady with any of the recruits. Everything that has been said by recruits and their parents have been nothing but positive towards the staff and the school. I wish nothing but the best for this young man and hope he has a great career at UT.
