Guess it's a matter of preference. I grew up in FL so I'm used to it more, but I love Gainesville and the UF campus. Just grew up a UT fan and couldn't bring myself to even apply to UF. Allegiances aside, and even after attending UT for 4 years, I'd take UF's campus and Gainesville over Ktown. Can't beat the aethsics of moss draped live oaks IMO.

Overrated campus. I'd take any campus in the southern portions of MS or LA.

I don't understand this post - at all. Gainesville is a hell hole located in the middle of nowhere.

You don't understand that someone could like the appeal of Gainesville over Knoxville? It's quite a simple concept to grasp; I'd prefer to live in Gainesville over Knoxville assuming I could stand to be around their obnoxious students/ fanbase on a daily basis. If we're purely talking the landscape and "feel" of a town I prefer Gainesville. I'm also a 6th generation Floridian born and raised so that's home for me.

We need a bookie to give us odds on the number of takes. I'm sure there are a number of shady individuals here willing to step up.

If that's the case, then you would definitely prefer Tallahassee to Gaineville.

Used to live in Florida. Spent some time in Gainesville. Seems like a pretty lousy town overall. Lots of strip malls and low rent suburbs. It's best attribute seems to be the driving distance to other, better towns with beaches.

The UF campus is nice. But so are alot of campuses. UT's is pretty awful. Still would prefer Knoxville, though.

He is from the flat coastal region of NC with lots of sand. Just saying. Most over here may not prefer the mountains if they live in eastrrn nc.

I've lived in Florida since I was 7. Gainesville in no way compares to the beauty of east Tennessee. No beaches either which kills total appeal. Give me Miami or Tallahassee all day if I'm staying in state.

Been to Tallahassee plenty. My family hails from Leon County.

As I said, its a matter of preference. My family has lived in rural FL since 1845 and I only moved 6 yrs ago after college because work kept me up here otherwise I'd still be down there. I spent every Christmas and summer in Knoxville because my mother is from there and attended UT and I personally would take Gainesville over Knoxville. Not a knock on Knoxville in any way, I loved my time there and love going back on weekends, I just have no desire to live there. Didn't mean to derail the thread.

Gainesville smells like hot dog water. I like Clearwater, Sarasota-Bradenton areas. Ft Myers too. Talahassee kicks Gainesville in the nuts.

Two totally different towns. Gainesville and Tally are college towns. Tampa and Sarasota are tourist and retirement beach areas.

Went to Tallahassee for a spring game with a buddy of mine. Seemed like a dump to me and also Doak Campbell was terrible on the inside. Obviously, I didn't tell him that. I don't see the appeal but to each his own.

Aesthetics wise DC blows Neyland out of the water, especially before we did our brick work. The brick work at Doak is beautiful and most stadiums look the same inside: concrete and aluminum bleachers.
