The Plus ONE is most ALL Fanz really have NO idea the length and breadth of time it takes to rebuild a program...regardless of their wishing for it to get better overnight.
Reading posts here leads me to wonder if this Fan Base deserves any better than we are getting. And please don't bother with the standard facilities, tradition, blah blah blah! Yep, with visions of winning 7, 8, 9 and sugar plums disappearing, shoot lets fire this coach and staff.
And you better tape those ankles, because after UF, Bammer, GA and USC, the masses will be jumping off Gay St. Bridge let alone the Band Wagon. With only 87000 at the last home game, what will it be down to when the weather turns bad?
Patience is a Virtue! Virtue is in short supply around here!!

The other 14 are for all you experts on the couch!! :mf_surrender:

All I know is that our beloved team has been "rebuilding" since 2008. And it has been a long 5 years.

I'm going to say since 2005 and I hate it but understand with every coaching change we have to realize it pushes it out that much further and we had to make one.

If theses coaches can hold this class of recruits together then 7-8 wins by 2015 and if CBJ does not bolt to Michigan we be back

just started watching the Butch Jones show. The loss of 3 slot receivers is significant and he did mention they had to change the game plan on Wednesday. Also said he does believe in playing to the strengths of the team so I can see his point.

Yes we have to rebuild but the truth is we are not as good as some Vol fans thought and we are not as bad as the majority of posters on Volnation think! Overall, I choose to look at he positive and look at the negative as simply where we need to improve.

POSITIVES
Head coach- Knows what it takes to win (4 championships in 6 years)
Assistants - Worked together in the past and know how to function as a team
Players- The players here are hungry to win and motivated.
Seniors - They have been through a lot of negativity and want to win. A lot of NFL talent
Facilities - First class
Tradition - Speaks for itself
Recruiting - Looking better than it has in years
Fan Base - Overall, great fan base but we have more than our fair share of negavols

NEGATIVES

Mike Hamilton - Face it Hammy set back our sports program 8-10 years (we are in year 5)
Negavols - The negativity does nothing to fix the problems and simply gives our opponents ammunition and hurts the morale of the team
Depth - We simply do not have it because of poor recruiting by Fulmer (last few years), Kiffy, and Dooley
Experience - this is going to hurt us for at least the next three years even if we have top five recruiting classes

OUTLOOK

We will RISE TO THE TOP. CBJ simply needs some time. Remember it took Majors four years ...

I understand,we were up against a different animal yesterday.i understand,we need some players to step up if we are going to make a bowl game this year.i understand,we need someone to cover the te and make the right reads or other teams are going to do us the same way.i understand,we still lack in leaders on the field.i understand, our offense was stale and if we can't score we will not win enough games to go to a bowl.and the last one.i understand,we are once again in rebuild mode.

This team is so thin right now we are playing guys that would be on the flag football league

Hopefully the Tampa Bay Bucs won't offer Butch Jones in a few years. It would be hard for him to turn that down.

Everyone thinks rebuilding is quick cause there are other non-generalizable examples out there. Look at Michigan. To the untrained eye, it would appear they have rebuilt, as they've had some good records, are ranked, & played in bowl games. But, let's kep in mind that they are ranked & in bowl games due to their record, which is inflated by a cupcake schedule of only really playing 2 good teams a year. They lost to S. Carolina & got drubbed by Bama last year. They almost lost to Akron, much the same way as we almost lost to subpar competition in recent years. That stuff doesn't happen to a powerful rebuilt UofM team. No Hoke recruit is more than a Soph. So, ranked & "winning" or not, Michigan is still rebuilding.
Florida changes coaches, but is stockpiled with blue chippers from the Meyer era. So, they are a bad example.

I'm sure there's more examples of programs down having coaching changes & making quicker recoveries that we use to make us think we should be better, but I'll just keep this brief.

I just want to see progress, toughness, conpetitive spirit, & good techniques, fitness, & coaching out there. This Sat was a bitter pill, though admittedly.

I don't think we have been rebuilding since 2008. After Fulmer, Kiffy didn't build anything. He brought less stability than after Fulmer was let go. Only 2 of his recruits were left in the program after Dooley's first year. So that was a year of sinking us deeper.

Dooley could recruit to an average level, but not to an elite level. His coaching was never what one would call top tier level either. What Dooley brought to the program was not really a building of a solid foundation, but to supply a stable ground upon which to build a foundation. Like him or hate him, Dooley provided needed stability, and that is just about all he did.

CBJ is hopefully the coach that really does the rebuilding. We have seen that he is able to recruit. We know he has been very successful winning 4 championships in 6 years of coaching. And from his testimony the players have bought in faster than anywhere he has been before. That is putting the foundation together. The quality of recruits that we get will make the difference in what quality of team CBJ builds. Right now from the 2014 class, it appears he is getting smart, talented players. That is very important. One can be talented beyond measure, but if they are dumb as a box of rocks, talent only takes you so far (i.e. remembering routes, assignments, retention of football knowledge). The announcers mentioned that every player from Oregon over the past three seasons qualified academically. Have we ever been able to say that? CBJ puts a lot of emphasis on being winners on the field, off the field, and in the classroom. He gets it.

Hope you're right, man. I'm hoping this as well.

That rebuilding speech is more difficult to swallow the third time around. Yes, it takes time and patience, which is exactly what most fans have bought into for six seasons. Now they're getting restless. Rebuilding is a process, and people get that, but they want to see signs that we're moving forward. Losing by 45, for the worst performance since 1905, brings concerns that the program hasn't bottomed, especially since the loss easily could have been worse. Losing by 30 wouldn't have caused nearly as much embarrassment or disappointment.

Considering the slot has been Worley's best pass I'd agree.

I think it took Majors 5 - 6 years. No reason it should take us that long. I worry about the line of scrimmage next season, but by year 3 or 4, Jones should have this turned around.
