“I’m still hearing from a few schools — not a lot, but there’s still some schools recruiting me[.] I ain’t going to name them, but there’s a few schools.”

“It feels good (to be committed to Tennessee). I can just focus on getting ready to play ball at Tennessee. It’s a great feeling. I still feel like it’s the right decision. I don’t regret it. ... Right now, I’m committed to Tennessee.”

“I mean, I know they struggled a little bit (this season), but they beat South Carolina and they finished strong this year, beating Kentucky. I just know (Jones is) changing that program around.”

“It’s just neat to be a part of something like that,” Barnett said. “I’m really pumped about our class. There’s a bunch of good football players.”

Now these are good problems to have.. TALENT

He's solid.

This situation just seems weird to me. He's being secretive about the teams recruiting him but maintains he's solid to the Vols - for now. I don't think we'll lose him but it would suck for him to unexpectedly flip on us near signing day.

It is weird I agree. Again he gave the dreaded quote of "right now I am committed".

Hopefully its just an innocent kid that isn't intentionally skirting around the visit issue and a commitment that is forever

It is a little weird, but maybe he thinks that's the respectful thing to do. As weird as it may seem, keep in mind that he's really good friends Gaulden, Wharton, Hurd, and Malone. I think he's very solid to UT.

Secretive to the media...probably not to Butch and the coaches.

Maybe he doesn't want to bring attention to the schools that are still recruiting him

Barnett is solid. That's just how he talks in all his interviews even before committing. Not everyone speaks the same. Some people are fine with being direct and closing doors and others like to be nice to everyone and keep options kicked to side in case something drastic happens.

You said no one would be ask to walk. That's why I ask how many we are signing. Of course Barnett won't be asked to walk

Na, I really didn't. Here's where often times you tend to read what you want to read as opposed to what's being said. Here's what I said:

We are not asking a 4 star D-lineman to walk.

Not all of our D-linemen have a 4 star rating.

When you read the article in its entirety people worried about the 'right now' comment conveniently skate over segments of the story such as this part:

And he’s as eager as ever to join the Vols next year as a part of their highly touted 2014 recruiting class, which currently is ranked No. 2 nationally in the 247Sports team rankings.

“It’s just neat to be a part of something like that,” Barnett said. “I’m really pumped about our class. There’s a bunch of good football players.”

and this one

“It feels good (to be committed to Tennessee). I can just focus on getting ready to play ball at Tennessee. It’s a great feeling. I still feel like it’s the right decision. I don’t regret it. ... Right now, I’m committed to Tennessee.”

That's exactly what you said. Looks pretty plain an simple to me.

That's why I asked you how many we were signing.

Dear lord, this is why so many people give you grief. Do you not know how sentence structure works?(rhetorical question)

We are not asking a 4 star D-lineman to walk. If anyone leaves it will be because they chose to, not for any other reason.

Entire comment. Prefaced it about 4 star D-linemen and followed the comment by suggesting 'anyone' meaning 4 star D-linemen. Don't know why this is so hard to understand.

Learn to effing read.

I read what you posted. Anyone is a plural word. He is a singular word.

Is Derek Barnett the only 4 star D-lineman we have? You have some of the most ridiculous conversations on this board. Complete waste of time.

Besides that, quit trying to grade posts. Who are you to do that? What are your credentials?

A lot of this sounds weird. One could easily make a big deal out of the bolded. But he also says some things that sound positive.

It's good to know that you recognize there are a lot of positives in those quotes instead of focusing on the negatives. Good for you.
