'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

We said the same thing about Worley last year until Peterman started versus UF. It can always get worse.

doubt it till dobbs steped up i was thinking these are the worst two qb to ever play a down for the vols since i been watching or listening since 72 -73.but i will give worley a thumbs up for heart but not much else and peterman nott much to say

Yes.

Decided to buy a place on the Princeville golf course. A bit earlier than I wanted to, but the deal was right so I jumped at it. Plan to use it as my retirement home. My goal has been to retire at 40. We'll see if I can wait it out 5 more years or not. :)

Was there last May. Probably the toughest golf course I've ever played. Wind, small greens and elevation changes are what make it so great. Enjoy. I "retired" at 31and have been blessed to travel the world. Congrats to you. (Although I disagree with you on CBJ. 😁)

Latest on Sheriron Jones

VIP 11 minutes ago
Former Florida quarterback commit Sheriron Jones (Moreno Valley, Calif./Rancho Verde) said Tennessee still leads.
"They are the front-runner," Jones reiterated.
He spoke with Volunteers offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian this past week and is working on setting up an official visit to Tennessee in January.
Jones said Volunteers head coach Butch Jones plans to conduct an in-home visit with him next month.
Jones said he also spoke with a coach from South Florida. He said Ole Miss landing JUCO quarterback Chad Kelly means they're now out of the picture.
The Crystal Ball reads 50-percent for Florida, 23-percent for Tennessee, 15-percent for Arizona, eight-percent for Ole Miss and four-percent foggy.
Look for that number to rise in a big way for Tennessee in the coming days. Jones is looking to decide in January.
The four-star prospect is ranked as the nation's No. 8 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 26 recruit in California in the 2015 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

New post on 247 about him. Anyone hook us up?

Tn still front runner and ole miss is out. Setting up jan official and Butch to do in home in jan.......after seeing peterman graduate I think it's a good indicator that he is leaving which makes it almost a necessity to grab 3 qbs with our system. You can't rely on Dobbs staying healthy all year being a running qb

So Jones is the 8th ranked DT QB, and Jennings is 5th, but some think Jennings should play D instead? Hmm. Puzzling.

I think a lot of that has to do with how quite a few talent evaluators have said Jennings' potential is much higher at Safety.

I'm sold on him as a QB though.

Pretty much for some. Jennings is a better runner than Jones. In reality Jones is more of a pro style but runs when needed. He is athletic and has a good arm (not QD type arm tho). Take all and let them battle it out. The upside to jennings is if he doesn't work at QB then S is a possibility.
Butch has this all planned out so we shouldn't worry

In reality, we have only 1 quarterback on the roster so I'm in favor of adding 3. You can question Butch's tactics if you want (I think he's done nothing wrong other then play the game). I don't care whom you are talking about you have a chance to get a guy with this caliber of talent you do it. Period.

Honestly he shouldn't be labeled a DT QB. He doesn't like to run and prefers sitting in the pocket and throwing it all over the place. And those aren't my words they are from the guys that follow and evaluate them. He would be a higher ranked Prostyle QB I believe. See him like Winston when he gets to a college. Rated a DT but doesn't run a lot and can kill you with his arm and win you games with it. Jennings is a pure DT QB. He relies on his legs a lot more than his arm right now. He isn't a good passer right now but has progressed a lot this yr alone in becoming a better passer. UT's offense needs a pass first QB that can make the right reads, make all the throws and keep it enough that the defense respects that he could keep the ball at any time. Jones and Dormady are perfect for this offense. I like Jones better than Francois and Francois doesn't have a typical QB height. Not saying he wont be a great QB and shorter guys have been productive at times. But still give me the taller QB with a great arm and some mobility. But in saying that I do prefer Jones but if we add either of Jones or Francois to Dormady and Jennings that gives us a great QB haul along with Kendall next yr.

Don't count Florida out of this. You can bet that McElwain will make a huge effort to sell him ion his vision for the program and his offense.

It sounds like Francois is the one he wants and feels good about. Just based off comments in his thread. I would take us adding Jones and UF adding Francois all day. I prefer he stay st FSU and UF getting nobody but probably not likely. I honestly am very excited about Dormady but if we somehow add Jones as well that would be a helluva QB class.

Was he that bad to the bone at safety as a Junior? I mean he didn't playbthat at all this year. He's tall and fast but does he lay the wood like Hurd did. I could see Hurd translating well but JJ is rail thin. I don't know.

So it sounds more like Jones would be a take if the staff decides to do so. This makes for an interesting situation. I'm absolutely digging the thought of the spring and me fall qb battles. I could see us telling 1 that they would for sure red shirt and bring in AK next year. That would give 2 qbs on that cycle. I for one love the idea especially since 1 projects at another position as well or better than qb. I just don't see the fuss over the moral aspect at all.

CBJ knows how critical it is to have a gamechanger at the QB position if he wants to win big. Signing 3 really promising QB prospects in one cycle is risky in terms of attrition, but IMO, he is willing to take that risk in order to get the best prospect on the field. The cream will rise to the top regardless. I am just excited that CBJ is signing mobile QBs that fit his spread system.

It is nice to have an aggressive head coach here for a change. I'm still giving CBJ benefit of the doubt on these decisions. It could backfire or it could turn out to be genius. Either way he is taking the risks that could potentially lead to championships.

Great post. Exactly how I feel.

He knows he needs a game changing QB to win big, so he's willing to skip a spot.

Although I think Jones would've never been an option if we had signed Richmond.

Absoultely. We bring them in and the best will play and others can transfer if they wish to. You need depth through your whole team. (OSU is the perfect example, yes they are more spaced out but you get what I'm saying)

Well now Stidham is available. Just deccommitted from TTU. He was interested in us early on and originally from KY. Seems with Jones naming us his leader and Stidham and Francois (apparently contacted us) coming available we will hopefully get a good 3rd QB.

I thought it was said that Jones doesn't fit into CJMs plans at QB??? Am I just dreaming that?
