CBJ knows how critical it is to have a gamechanger at the QB position if he wants to win big. Signing 3 really promising QB prospects in one cycle is risky in terms of attrition, but IMO, he is willing to take that risk in order to get the best prospect on the field. The cream will rise to the top regardless. I am just excited that CBJ is signing mobile QBs that fit his spread system.
Unless Jennings is cool moving to DB, I sink it would be a mistake to sign 3 QBs. Based on the tape I have seen, I think Austin Kendall is our next great QB.
We have needs at LB, CB and OL. And with uncertainly around Scott and Hendrix really DEs and another RB as well.

You go after Francois (already scheduled a UF visit) and if he seems disinterested then you get jones. I think Jones is a fine player but Francois is better IMO.
I personally like Jones better but you can't go wrong with either. Jones is the much better passer and is taller. Am a little concerned about the distance but he was committed to UF and that's even further than UT. Seems like Jones wants to play in the south and in the SEC. Honestly Dormady is the better fit of the three for this offense. He is the better passer and has a cannon for an arm. I have seen some people say they prefer a pure DT guy but looking at Dormady's stats and Francois it's not even comparable. Their rushing yards for the yr was equal and Dormady is by far the superior passer.
With the weapons we have to support QD I would have to agree. Lets get the playmakers the ball. If they don't respect his ability to get yards himself then we burn them that way. He will fit just fine. Let the competition commence!
Definitely. We don't need a run first QB that can't throw the ball. We have too many weapons at WR to throw 15 screen or swing passes like we have done lately with Dobbs. We need a QB that can stretch defenses and hit open receivers. Then who gives the impression that he could keep the ball on the read option at any given point. QB's in the SEC especially take enough hits and beatings weekly without adding 15-20 QB runs a game. Just not a good recipe to keeping a QB healthy. And Dormady fits everything the Coach's want in a QB to effectively run this offense.
I have very little doubt that Dobbs can stretch the defense and hit open receivers IF given the time by the OL to make any sort of decision other than to retreat and dump it off quick. IMO folks are rushing to judgment on Dobbs and I think they will be surprised IF he's given time in the pocket.
I agree. Tee was inaccurate as well when on the move to avoid the rush. He ended up setting the mark for most consecutive completions in a game. What Dobbs has been this season is just the beginning of his career. Combined over two seasons he still does not have a full season of playing time. He will progress greatly starting next season IMO. He knows how he needs to improve and in what areas better than anybody.
Jones, QD and JJ can all run this offense well IMO. Each will have strengths to emphasize. It's on Jake to scheme and play call well and Butch to make him. I watch a lot of football games around the country. I have never seen any OC call that many bubble screens and swings in games than Jake did against Mizzou and Vandy. Ever. Even with the lower level schools.
ready for some competition this year @ QB!!!!!
Dobbs is great but still has not shown that he is THE GUY!
Agreed. Dobb's has shown flashes of really good and really bad. He hasn't done anything yet to instill confidence that he can win big games for us. Hope he does but if not help is definitely on the way.
I thought he showed something in that South Carolina game but maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me :ermm:

He def did.. no disagreement from me on that. That being said, can he do it week in and week out in big time environments?
You have to love that he kept us in that game and never gave up but there was also 35k people in the stands and a 6-6 South Carolina team out there too.
I fully expect Dobbs to be the guy but if he doesn't watch out one of these frosh will be ready to take his spot, they are just as hungry especially the Jennings kid.
That's just blind optimism = fanboy talk.I definitely agree and with Dormady being here and spending time with his soon to be teammates, going to area hospitals to see sick kids with them shows me how hungry he is. Truely expect Dormady to push Dobbs for the starting job next season. And no I'm not saying Dormady will start or that he should. But don't think he will just sit back and just shoot and be content on being the back up. Hopefully Dobbs learns consistency and can lead this team to great things the next two seasons. But if he continues to show the lack of it into spring and fall practice and Dormady somehow outplays him we have seen Butch not hesitate to make a QB change. Dormady is more polished as a QB right now than Jennings so I would expect them to try and RS Jennings. But the way our QB's have gone down or lacked consistency the last 2 yrs who knows who the starter is by midseason next yr. With Peterman graduating It sounds like he won't be around after the bowl game and unless we get a transfer in that has graduated and can play immediately we will have 2, possibly 3 true freshman then Dobbs. Not an ideal situation at all.
