Not a good recipe for keeping a starting QB healthy in the SEC for a full season. That's what RB's are for. If we had good depth at RB then no reason for the QB to run that much every game. Some games dictate wwhat you do on offense but that many a game on average I cant see happening. Especially if we have depth and talent at RB and playmakers at receiver all over the field. Believe thats why they recruited guys like Dormady and others who are pass first , good passers and can make all the throws but still can be productive on zone reads. But they bring in too many high profile receivers to not utilize them. Jmo

So I just spoke with JC Shurburtt from 247 concerning Sheriron Jones as well as Deondre Francois. He said he likes both recruits and both would fit very well in our offense. He said we have a much better shot at landing Jones. I asked how he thought Dormady and Jennings would react to this, since they would both be on campus if it were to come to fruition. He said, well you can move Jennings to safety where he belongs. He said there is a good chance that Jones ends up on The Hill. TIFWIW. :hi:

Anyone saying we dont need 3 QBs is not thinking clearly b/c if QD or the 3rd Qb beat out JJ, JJ is going to safety or xfering. Either of which leaves us with 2 underclassman scholly Qbs and only AK for '16, which if im not mistaken thinks he will be only Qb for his class. 3 Qbs is a MUST!!!

Didn't realize JJ was being moved to safety or transferring. He'll get his shot at QB.

Come on man, this is a board for speculation and EVERY expert says his future(beyond college) would be in the secondary.(Sigchig posted JC Shurburts comment, which is what I piggybacked off of) I am all for him or whoever taking and winning the job. People watching for a third Qb are discussing how the numbers would shake out so I offered a scenario, an OPTIMISTIC one, where all the guys stay in Orange.

Nate Pete will not transfer and will have a Heisman breakout season next year. Second coming of Tebow with.a little Doug Flutie mixed in there. We still need 4 qb's this class...

Ok I gotta ask, if QD or another Qb shows they are better Qbs, does he redshirt sit n hope for an opportunity due to injury? Or does he sit n hope to start as a RS-SR? Or does he xfer....Or move to where most every expert has said would be his best chance at a PRO career?
I personally hope he wins the job and never looks back being a TN boy and all, but im looking at what ppl that get paid to do this as a job say and going off of their opinion. I know some have changed their tune on him being a Qb, but that doesnt mean he will be a good College Qb.

Don't think he will. If he gets sold on having talent to be an elite type safety who could makes lots of money doing it he would be crazy not to do it. Don't see him ever being an elite talent at QB or having the ability to make money one day doing it. All these guys that get paid to evaluate these kids say hishighest ceiling is at safety and could be a special one. He may prove them wrong and turn into an elite talent at QB but would bet the other side and go with safety.

Agreed and said the same thing. I would hope he doesn't let his ego get in the way if after they give him a chance to play QB and Dormady beats him out for backup or whatever this season that he saw he was given the chance they promised but if after the yr they said they would give him he wasn't progressing then he agrees to change positions. Didn't supposedly the Coach's say they would give him a yr at QB and if it didn't work out he would agree to move? I have seen it posted but wasn't sure how much truth there was to it.

Having both SJ and QD will make me a very happy Vol fan. Bright future with both - best man wins. Then add Kendall next and they are set.
