IMO people think "twitter buddies" and real friends are one in the same. I may be lost in the times but that seems strange to me. TG had never even met Kahlil till the Opening event yet folks talked about how close of friends they were becoming weeks before. I doubt other recruits have any idea where other recruits are on the UT coaches actual board. Just like when Andrew Butcher thought we were about to get a commitment from Sterling Johnson. Or other recruits thinking Harrell was about to commit to UT. Recruits IMO know about as much as the fans do.

Most people in real life do want him. TSR and Bleacher Report ran polls seeing who people wanted to sign most. Gibson won both by a large margin. You and the others are a small vocal minority.

TG was just asked who is recruiting him at QB and he does not list OSU. He says he is not considering schools who are not recruiting him at QB. He is scheduled to visit OSU this weekend. Wait...What? Exactly.

There are a lot of fans who see 5*'s and don't care about anything else. It's kind of common now a days with recruiting. A lot of star gazers would gladly take a 5* today even if they knew the kid would never amount to anything once in college. That 5* ranking is all it takes for some people even if the happiness is very short lived. I'm just glad our coaches don't have that mindset.

Leb, we understand you call it like you see it. I actually laugh at those who are steadfast in that he's a vol. Just digging your feet in the dirt no matter what he says, the numbers say, other recruits do, etc. is absolutely absurd in the world of recruiting. It changes daily.

By the way. This interview was BEFORE his scheduled visit to OSU (or even mentioned it for that matter). Watch the interview before you rebut.

Oh, I forgot... IMO

Nobody suggested we should recruit based on the poll. The poll was only referenced as evidence in a conversation about whether the majority of fans are in favor of TG being a Vol or not.

I swear, we will be halfway through camp next August and this thread will still be alive with the same handful of people saying "Gibson will be a Vol! He's going to commit in October!"

A poll taken from people that have never met him. No one knows what he acts like, if he can be coached, if he would be great for the locker room or other teammates. All we know for fact is that he is a 5 star recruit (on some recruiting websites) and he "possibly" has attitude issues. No one has met him to make a decision.

I'll let the coaches decide who they want on this team. Not some, "I want to win, I want 5 star recruits, I want it now" fans. Its a process and "if" he isn't part of that process.... then move on. Simple as that.

Yeah, I know. Let the coaches decide and all that. We all know and concede that. As you said, I do want to win now, and I'm not ashamed of it, but I nor anybody else ever suggested we should override the coaches' decisions based on our opinions. That's silly. I've simply put forth that all the talk about "issues" and coaches rejecting TG is completely unproven and unsubstantiated. SOME people like to portray that talk as fact as if it were a closed case from day one. TG may not end up a Vol. I have no idea, but I hope he does.
Now, like I said, there was a conversation about whether a majority of people(fans) would prefer TG be a Vol or would prefer he not be. That was the context of the poll reference, not to suggest it should be used as a recruiting decision maker for the coaches. That's a false premise.

The so called, "vocal minority", as you call it, takes a realistic and accurate stance on TG's recruitment. Anyone who has been involved in the recruiting process, as an athlete or as a coach, understands what coaches tell the players that are already committed, particularly the QBs. Coaches don't play around and lie to the QBs in a recruiting class. Everything that Jennings and Dormady have said, indicates that they have been told by Butch Jones, himself, that they will be the only QBs signed in the 2015 class. That is all that I need to know, as to what is TG's fate. He will not be playing QB, ever, for the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

Having been through the process myself and having watched my brothers and several other friends go through the process over the years, I am quite confident on how recruiting and recruiting promises work, especially the QB positional recruiting.

Nobody thinks we should recruit based on popularity. My point was most fans do want Gibson.

Lv once again CBJ hasn't "passed" on Gibson. Actually more signs point to a silent commit vs being passed on.

Tux you know nothing about recruiting in 2014. You CLAIM to have been recruited. That was 40 or 50 years ago anyway. Things have changed since then.
