So he just calls butch for shoot the shat. Not buying it.

Maybe?

Sterling Johnson, Marquell Harrell, Quentez Johnson, Austin Clark, Duke Shelley, and others have all had UT as their #1 when they were ready to announce. Would it be safe to say UT coaches had been talking to all of these guys and selling them on "we want you at UT" up until they passed on them? Maybe TG plays out the same way.

Maybe TG realizes he has screwed up waiting and called to double check with CBJ IF he was going to be able to take him or not? Could CBJ have told him "No" and it still been a "good conversation"? CBJ for the most part seems to do things the right way. I'd think letting a recruit down easy would be in his arsenal.

He also tweeted about people putting stuff online he didn't say.
He also never said what people were claiming he said, that he "didn't say". He obviously said what he posted on 247 before that.

It could've very well been him responding to the ones that were going crazy and exaggerated what he said to be that the staff wasn't recruiting him at all any more, and that TG said UT wasn't his leader anymore. None of which he said.

Another one yesterday after the tweet...

So it sounds like Callahan feels IF Gibson were not close to other UT targets, UT and TG would not be a possibility.

I wonder who TG is really close with? I know Kahlil is, but I'm just not worried about him at all. He's a Vol.

Other than Jefferson, I'm not sure I get the "he's close with others" talk. I don't see many of those guys we are in on following him to his other options.

Richmond maybe as he was looking at OSU, but it seems bama is the fight there. Especially with OSU's actual interest in TG still very much up in the air.

And this guy is not a top target why? His film is incredible. Let's not overthink this like the Cam Newton situation. Please...

Of course, that's the point of a recruiting message board, haha, but I'm speaking more in a specific sense just for this recruit.

No one will be able to accurately predict this recruitment due to its uniqueness. There is no situation that compares to this recruitment in the country and honestly none like this that I have seen in recruiting (however brief that has been).

Here's a situation that I will throw out there - that I would describe as somewhat similar in some respects - RANDALL COBB. Fabulous athlete, wanted a shot at QB. Coach Fulmer and others didn't want to offer him as a quarterback. How did that one turn out. He played a little QB in situations, Kickoff and punt return, and last I checked developed into a pretty fair wide out now playing for the Packers. When you have a top 10 athlete -- a special talent - he is always a take and you find out where he best fits when the dust settles. From all indications Gibson fits that mold.

Well we were doing vocal impressions of people on VN that don't want Gibson here. It went like something like this:

Me: KM, this is what one VN poster keeps saying about top 20 player Gibson. Well he isn't a take for us. He is not a QB and we don't need him. I also said to him I go, hey KM there is no room for a top 20 player on the Vols because we are so good that we can turn away ultra talented players.

KM: Come on dawg for real? *He cracked up laughing at my impression of the VN members*. You can't be serious man. Are there really people on that message board who don't want a stud player like Gibson? I gotta say if thats true they is some stupid people on that board.

So yeah he was laughing at us impersonating those who don't want Gibson. It was awesome :)

This has me crackin' up. If this REALLY happened I'm gonna go out and buy a UT bucket hat in honor of KM.

Liking special talent makes you a stargazer. That's how it works here.

Make scenarios up as much as it makes you feel better about it but Butch Jones is recruiting TG still.

Like I've said before the name obviously isn't coming up as much as it used to be, but it still is definitely a serious discussion.

Do I know if Butch will take his commitment? No clue. Of course there are plenty of examples of recruits that have come out of no where and committed that some may scratch their heads over.

My advice? Stop trying to predict what is going on behind closed doors in this recruitment. I promise that not even the people closest to the situation know the full extent of things. This one's going to be interesting and controversial right down to NSD and it would be better for everyone's health to quit the bickering and predicting and sit back and watch the chips fall into place.

I love this guy... he's like the Dalai Lama of VN recruiting.

Ever nervously laugh at the wild eyed guy, who approaches you on the street and tells you Jesus wants money for crack? :eek:hmy:

You were aware that Tux and his family have close ties to Vandy weren't you?

I was not. But that still doesn't explain the reasoning behind him feeling the need to come here and act superior unless his home life is lacking and he needs this, if that's the case then bless his heart

*edit* my fault I forgot
Boom?

Little boom?

No boom?

Touché, but there were several here that didn't think Newton was "special" enough either.

In both cases the head coach with the ultimate decision...most like Butch to make the better call...all 's we're doing is debating what WE think that is...one side thinks the other shouldn't have the right to express their viewpoint ...that's when KM gets reduced to a Jack Benny skit.

Nah, I'm in the middle and enjoy everybody's opinion. I just think it's funny how labels come from both sides.

And I certainly trust Butch more than Kiffin.

If cbj told him no we arent taking your commit does Gibson seem like the type to entertain anyone who doesent stroke his ego?
