'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

You have to get kicked off another team before being the QB at AU, it's one of the traits they look for when recruiting. On their checklist for 'intangibles'.

RT @LukeStampini: Torrance Gibson mentions a possible UCF visit. Wouldn't shock me to see him eventually fall there.

Thought this was interesting tho, I could see this if Tn and others pass on him playing QB and he doesn't want to play WR.

What does the VIP article say?

Saturday morning, he has no leaders. Saturday afternoon UT is back as the leader. Saturday night, no leaders.

Sounds about right for ole TG. :zeitung_lesen:
Sounds like we've got conflicting reports more than anything.

Here is the "Daily TG update" part duex, if anyone was curious;

1. TG left for the Elite 11 QB camp this morning.

2. Earlier this afternoon 247 posted an article in which TG cleared the air around his recruitment and around rumors. He said we have not stopped recruiting him and that we are, in fact, recruiting him as a QB. He also talked about his call with Butch Jones. Made it sound like Miami is heating up and that they will also land his '16 teammate Snelson. Arizona showing interest. When asked about leaders he said “I’m not sure right now,” Gibson said. “I need some time. I haven’t talked to all of the coaches I want to. I’m still considering Tennessee, Ohio State, Auburn, UCF, LSU, Arizona, Oklahoma and Miami.” - quotes

3. TG arrives for the Elite 11 QB camp.

4. Curious nugget from ESPN guy. Gerry Hamilton says "Vols remain leader"??? No quotes directly from Torrance unfortunately.

5. A nugget comes comes a little bit later from Neibehr. Auburn reportedly backing off Gibson and focusing their efforts on Francois. Says Gibson has "no leader" - which coincides with the 247 article posted earlier.

6. WARNING: SPECULATION Gerry Hamilton likely talked to TG at the Elite 11 camp and got that the "Vols still lead" from TG there, in person. My guess is that the quotes (from 247) posted this afternoon came from an interview sometime yesterday (as he was traveling all day and writers often sit on these interviews overnight to write them). Neibehr probably has not had the most recent contact with him, whereas Gerry likely has. So take from that what you will.

7. What a mess.

I wish this guy would pick a damn college already and stop playing games. What's the point of dragging things out? Most schools will already have their quarterbacks by then before he even announces where he's going. In my opinion, he needs to stop fooling around and stop changing leaders every single day of the week. It's just making him look like an idiot and I don't see how anyone could take him seriously.

I don't fault him at all. I truly believe he's currently undecided and also think this is Miami's to lose. I'd love to have him, but he just seems to fickle to land here.

Not sure if this has been shared already. FWIW. We'll get to see him in variety of roles this week:

Per 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons, five-star athlete Torrance Gibson. will compete the first two days at Elite 11 before switching to athlete for The Opening. The nation's top-rated athlete according to 247Sports has schools like Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Ohio State and Miami at the top of his list. A strong showing at Elite 11 could result in Gibson being listed as a dual-threat quarterback by 247Sports.

Some news regarding where TG stands with UT.

"Tennessee is still recruiting Gibson. I don't think it's fair to say that they have stopped. There is just some concern by colleges about Gibson's maturity and several schools have cool their jets a bit to do all their research to make sure there are no red flags that would make you say I can't sign him."

"I think if he is going to be a college quarterback he is going to have to improve his throwing ability some, but I never thought Nick Marshall could get it done as a signalcaller and I was wrong."

-Hubbs

More from Fortenberry...

"Like Brent, I still believe there is a relationship there but that it has cooled some because Tennessee now has Jennings and Dormady and some of the questionable decisions he made in the past."

"Like I have always said, there are going to be a lot of twists and turns with Gibson from now until his commitment."

"I have also said Miami will be a factor before all is said and done and I still think that to be true. A long ways to go in this one."

It is interesting to me that TG now also lists Arizona as someone he's considering. He has become pretty good friends with Kahlil McKenzie, whose final 2 are UT and Arizona. Seems like an odd coincidence... hopefully that is all it is.

FWIW Kahlil said on Twitter that his decision was already made and the only people he's told so far is "OTF"... only the family.

Am I the only one who thinks he is going to Auburn? Just because a school "backs off" on a kid doesn't mean they didn't get a silent commit.

He's not in a rush to commit because he wants to enjoy his recruitment. As long as he has options he will go with it. I think TN is still recruiting him because most likely the kid is gonna transfer if he doesn't succeed. By then, he'll come to TN and appreciate our coaches for giving him a second shot.

Doug Matthews stated that he feels even stronger this week about the Vols not signing another QB in this class because he said that he has been told that UT coaches have made the decision to not accept or sign another QB in this class, whether that players is a dual threat QB or a pro-style QB. Jennings and Dormady are their QBs in this class.

@RockyTopVols: 5* QB Torrance Gibson (@quick_tg6) on #Vols at Elite 11 Camp: "Tennessee is the leader, CBJ is a great coach & UT is on the way to the top"

I'd rather he go to OSU under Meyer than the Barn.

This has actually crossed my mind recently too. I really feel like KM is a Vol lock, but you can't ignore the coincidence. Would be the most epic troll ever if KM ended up choosing Arizona. I would honestly have to laugh.
