I was reading this article and surprised by just how many guys from the 2016 team are still collecting NFL checks.

QB Josh Dobbs (Vikings)
RB Alvin Kamara (Saints)
RB John Kelly Jr. (Browns)
FB Jakob Johnson (Raiders)
WR Jauan Jennings (49ers)
WR Brandon Johnson (Broncos)*
DE Darrell Taylor (Seahawks)
DE Derek Barnett (Eagles)
DE Kyle Phillips (Saints)
DT Shy Tuttle (Panthers)
DT Kendal Vickers (Cardinals)
LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin (Lions)
CB Cam Sutton (Lions)
CB Emmanuel Moseley (Lions)
S Micah Abernathy (Falcons)

*article didn't include him for some reason

And this doesn't include Jalen Hurd who had NFL talent if not for injuries. A couple of them are on practice squad but nonetheless this is an incredibly impressive list. I'm guessing Alabama and Clemson who played in the natty that year don't have that many more players still playing in the league from their 2016 squads.

It's amazing how much talent Butch Jones squandered. That was a national championship caliber roster.

Really good group of Guys. It was coaching malpractice by Butch to only have back to back 9-4 seasons with that collection of talent.

Wow. Between those three and Hooker, Detroit is looking like Knoxville North. Good for them.

Butch Jones is a snake oil salesman masquerading as a college football coach.

He definitely gave Ray Goff a run for the money as the worst squander of talent.
Difference for Ray was he came along when Florida & Tennessee had as much talent as him. Butch found ways to lose to average Florida teams. The SEC East Goff played in was a lot tougher than the SEC East Jones did.

Holy ____! That is insane. I had no idea all those guys were still collecting checks from the league. Someone nailed it, that's a national championship contending roster with average coaching.

Great post. This is really interesting. I am pretty sure the 2016 season was our best season prior to last season regarding record since the Fulmer era.
