It's crazy. We went up to Knoxville my first time for a track meet for junior olympics and ever since then I fell in love with the school. I can't tell you why," Bussey said. "But, they kind of came on late in the process but since then they've come hard and I talk to coach Butch and coach Gillespie all the time. Even though they came on late they came on recruiting me as hard and if not harder than anyone else. I talked to coach Gillespie a lot and we built that bond very quickly.
Besides Jalen, who played a lot this year as a freshman and started, and Alvin Kamara who actually signed from juco, besides those two it's kind of wide open," Bussey explained. "That's definitely a positive for coming in and trying to earn playing time early.
The pre-game really caught me off guard. The Vol Walk, that was amazing. I had never seen that many people in one spot so that was amazing," Bussey said. "Then, how the fans were able to stay in the game, Tennessee kind of didn't come out hot early, but the way the fans stayed in the game and supported the team, I thought, was awesome.
"I spent this last summer trying to be the complete back. I did get a lot of knocks on m size being just 5-8, but I knew if I put on some weight and maintain my speed and get faster, which I did, I knew that I could get some respect,"
They've told me how they can use that part of my game in their offense," Bussey said. "I have to credit my coach because we would spend some practices catching balls for the first hour. So I've become pretty fluent in catching them and it's translated on to the field. I catch a lot in games and coach Gillespie has talked about how he can fit that in their offense and allow me to get the ball in space.
Have to give credit where credit is due. Skeeter came in and said Vol when everyone else was saying TAMU and crystal balls all said TAMU. Hopefully that'll get some of you guys off his back
