HOW DOES BUSSEY FIT IN?

With only one scholarship running back returning from the 2014 season to the 2015 season Tennessee is going to need as much running back help as it can get and landing Bussey is a nice compliment to what Tennessee is bring in in the class of 2015.

We saw every Tennessee back struggle with injuries throughout the season as Hurd, Marlin Lane, Devrin Young and the departed Derrell Scott all were banged up at some point during the season.

As a player, Bussey is certainly intriguing. At just 5-8, he's short but is thickly built weighing in at just under 200 pounds and provides a burst of speed with 10.6 100-meter times and seems to have a nice blend of speed and power.

Another aspect of Bussey's game that stands out is his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He shows great ability in screen passes and swing passes out of the backfield and adds another dimension to his game.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR TENNESSEE?

After signing junior college running back Alvin Kamara earlier this week Tennessee knows it should have at least two scholarship running backs on the roster this spring. That number should grow by one more as Cincinnati transfer Ralph David Abernathy IV is set to be on campus in January.

But, as we saw this season, Tennessee needs more help and Bussey should provide some of that but the Vols will still be more.

As of now, the Vols still hold the commitment of Rocky Reid but he's likely to take visits to Georgia, Louisville and possibly Georgia Tech and that's a situation that's worth monitoring.

The Vols are still after North Carolina all-purpose back Bryce Love as well as running back John Kelly out of Michigan.

Love is seemingly down to Tennessee and Stanford with visits to both in January while Kelly seems to have narrowed his recruitment to Tennessee, Minnesota and Michigan State and will also visit in January.

SCOUTING REPORT ON BUSSEY

Now we turn to Southwest Recruiting Analyst Jason Howell for his take on Bussey:

"Kendall Bussey is not the biggest guy in terms of raw size, but he is a stout prospect. He is a solidly built running back who brings plenty of strength to the table. He runs with a low center of gravity and he is shifty and quick. He has the vision to see his seam and the burst to hit his top gear in a hurry.

"He uses that ability whether he is taking a handoff, catching the ball in space, or working in the return game. He is also a guy who has grown up around the game. He knows the game well and is he is the kind of athlete who can put it to good use early on in his playing days on the college level."

I think most likely another 6-6 scenario next year as well, possibly 7-5. They play away at UT, Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss with home games against Auburn, Miss St, A&m, and Mizzou. They just don't have the talented depth to keep up.

Arky is one of those scary teams to play. If they had a QB their record is much different. They had and should have beaten Ala, Mizzou, A'M and Miss St. The only team dominated them was AU and that was close till the 4th..They held Ala to their lowest point total and shut Cooper down. They are gonna be a dangerous team to play. Their Oline is bigger than most NFL teams.

Their defense is what surprised me the most at the end of the year.

Bussey isn't just a "power-RB". He is a bruiser, but he really has top-notch speed as well. Bussey is one of the best, all-around, complete RBs in the nation this year. He will fit in well in CBJ's offensive system.

"Gridiron star Kendall Bussey of Newman headlines local action this week, ripping off a 10.33-second 100 meters at the Newman Invitational in one of the nation's fastest clockings this year. He overtakes the injured Edward Davis (Karr) as the area's top short sprinter. "

You are so right, in their mind they are on Bama's level. I can show them their all time record against UT on their official site and they will swear it is not right.

This x100000. Living in Arkansas, I already know you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Our game against them could well be the crossroads for one of the 2 to either get to 8 or more wins or stall out.

Stewart played at Newman with Peyton Manning and coached Odell Beckham Jr., both first-round NFL draft choices. He sees a link between the three players. “When you see their talent and work ethic, they are very competitive. Kendall could be mentioned in the same breath as those two. He has that ‘it’ factor. He is more than just a combine running back with his skill set, not just for here but college. Who knows where beyond that. You don’t get many kids like that.”

Told my friends that we got Bussey. The overwhelming response was "do you think we still get Love?" My response was , "who ****ing cares? This guy wants to play for UT now. Also, looking at his highlight, I see this guy getting over 1000 all purpose yards at one point or another. Guys, we have all the skills positions we need
