'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

What happened? When I was on this board last week, it was just a matter of seconds before Van decommits from GA and commits to us.:lolabove:

With Preston's injury he may need a redshirt year. Let's go get this guy.

This. Got to wonder how Preston's injury affects recruiting.

IMO we need atleast one more receiver. Newsome, Jefferson and Slayton seem to be the best shots at this point and honestly out of that bunch I like Slayton the best.

De1Conley,

Do you know how Friday's visit between coach Jones and Van went? There was some speculation on Volquest that Jones was going to ask him if he was wasting his time recruiting him and if he should move on.

Honestly Van was excited CBJ cm to the school. As some if you might not know there was no face to face contact. But after the coqches left Van called CBJ they had a very productive conversation followed by a call and conversation from his dad and mom. All was very productive. The question from Volquest was not a literal question but was a statement meaning gauging how close we were to making a move. The statement to me from Van was are they going to redshirt me due to #s. The coaches including CBJ said "hell no" avan would be top 3 WR for us now based on him being so technically sound, speed, etc. So guys time is short and with Van being an EE its really short. The thing is his momma understanding now that he has told her he wants no part of UGA and the running offense. There's a team worki g right now myself the coaches Dobbs Malone Dormady and P. Williams. In case some dont know acl on a wr usually takes up to 1.5 yrs recovery to be 100% so P. Williams is likely to redshirt per my info

de1Conley,

What are you hearing on Justin Martin? Does our staff still take him if he isn't able to qualify for Spring? Will they wait on him? Also what is the deal with Ugo and Kyle, any news there?

years past these are the type of players that eluded us. fulmer snubbed them, dooley was an absolute moron, and kiffin didnt want to be here.

its so refreshing to see Nashville kids getting the attention they deserve. With the rust belt and deep south getting hit, Nashville is seeing a huge lift in growth.

Anyway, ive felt that if we pushed wed get Van. which i hope we do...During Vandy's up year, they may have gotten this player who would eventually have scored the GW td on us in OT, plus 150+ yds of offense.

Subsequent to hearing all week about how All SEC player X will have a breakout game against the Vols, the Vols will need to find an answer for him.

If we get Van, itll be big. With potentially he and Pwill, Dormady, and Juaun, our O will be in good hands.

anyway. \rant

Agree about P-Will likely redshirting. The crazy thing is long-term this might be best for Tennessee as it will likely keep other schools from pursuing him leading up to signing day. He was one I was always nervous about because he said he was going to take visits. Plus he can take his time recovering as there is no immediate rush to get him onto the field before he's truly ready.

Everything I've read on GA sites have him as a huge lock and not wavering a bit... something isn't adding up here, Conley do you think he is going to flip? I mean if he hates the offense he's committed to then what is the hold up?

This.

De1Conely seems to be the only one talking about Van possibly flipping. Everywhere else seems to think he is very solid to UGA.

If Conley is right on this, he wins insider of the year hands down.

No offense but clearly our strength this year is the run game, but UGA has always been known to run a balanced offense. This year is not the norm of what our team does.

I have to disagree...
You guys always lose two games games a year that you shouldn't.
So yes, this year is the norm.

Van would be an absolute stat beast in the slot for UT if he does flip.

I would objectively agree with this. Aaron Murray threw the ball well, and you guys run the same "balanced" offense that UT used to run under Fulmer, and UT was/is known as WRU. The type of offense that UGA runs will have minimal affect on Van's ultimate decision IMO.

On Justin I know they really want him and he loves UT. The thing is his mom recently moved back to Ga. He is getting a lot of interest from LSU, UT, and a few others as he should being he is the #1 JUCO cb. I think UT will take this kind of talent regardless of what semester he comes because they're the ones who placed him at the juco. Ugo as of now I really don't know because I really don't talk to him much as he is a db and I primarily work with OL/DL kids. On KP I think his interest has peaked in LSU but in the end I think UT and the chance to play with McKenzie, Tuttle, and Barnett is calling/ texting him daily talking about playing on that dream defensive DL @ UT.

Man look I didn't make anything up I said. Van is saying this. In the past like I spoke to Van and said name me 5 WR that UGA has put in the NFL in the last 10 years. AJ Green is the only one worth a mention meanwhile UT has continue to put them in the NFL year after year coach after coach. No offense to UGA but a balanced offense if throws to the fb and te and a wr throw here or there. Ask MArlon Brown how well he developed from his time at UGA to now. A rookie FA WR and coming out of HS he was way better than that. Also how has Rumph (11 catches in 2 years) developed. I show my kids facts and stats not opinions on who I'm a fan of.
