'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

I'm guessing Josh Smith is one of the more athletic receivers on our roster. There is a reason he is open more than most, and it's not all route running.

Love Josh Smith. He totally outplayedy expectations. A healthy Josh Smith is going to do wonders for Pearson and North next year.

Also I failed to mention not shunning Smith @ all. Just remember there's a difference in a possession WR and a playmaker. There's always a place for Rickey Proel types but also a must hv for legit game changing WRs

Smith is a playmaker. He has speed and can make people miss. Not to the level of Von in shiftiness but he is still a playmaker and not just a possession receiver at all.

Ahhh got to love the Caucasian WR must be a non playmaker\possession WR angle. Lazy at its best. Smith is better speed/quickness/agility combo than any WR on our roster except Von.

Yeah like Jordy Nelson or Wes Welker they aren't playmakers just possession receiver, Bruhah blah blah, yeah right!!

I don't think we should be so over confident. hell they beat us at home last year. we are still a long way from overlooking any other sec team.

Completely different Vandy team, much better UT team and biggest thing is Mason Coaching and not Franklin.

Oddly enough in the USCe game UT put up 650 yards on offense and their (2) supposed deep threats didn't do a thing(North/Malone). Seems that possession type WRs can get it done as well.

Very true. I would bet Smith would have been open all night Sat. It's amazing how much better Smith looked this yr. Can definitely see why they said he had the best hands on the team and he seemed to always get open. And that's something North has struggled at doing so far this yr. Probably mostly him being injured a good part of this season, but his talent potential is off the charts.

This. The kids sparq scores were off the charts. Top 10 if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't be surprised to see him out producing most of these guys had he not been injured.

Josh Smith is leaps and bounds better at any guy on the roster at getting open, excluding maybe Pig. And for some reason John John is always like wide open with no one covering him. LOL, that play with him slot right and just streaks down the field... open every time.

Not to derail Vans thread (actually he's a bulldog so i don't really care) but you're right. However Johnsons dropped a few good ones, but hell Croomatron has as well. I'm pleased with their overall body of work but believe me when I say they can all be much, much better.

That being said, I think when it's all said and done Josh Smith will have as-good or better numbers than most of the aforementioned.

Havr you seen or heard about them this year? Mason and his staff have a clue. So bad that several prominent alumnd are offering tobpay the buyout to rid the school of the coach.

What's your take on Preston Williams?

Also if I remember correctly UTs depth and talent at WR seemed to influence Vans decision. Do you think this will legitimately hurt our chances to flip him?

Article on 247 just now with Van lines up with what Conley has been posting in this thread. Taking visits to TN, OSU and maybe Fla. liked what Dobbs did and started to see that he can play early at TN after all. Also is a big fan of the potential of being lined up with Preston Williams. Thinks Dormady will be special

So is a flip imminent or is this being read into too much?

JS is open because their best players are on our best players. Him being better than he should be then makes him a matchup nightmare for the players we try to expose. WRU

I don't know but wouldn't be surprising. He also admitted that his parents were torn in the decision because his dad loooooooooves butch jones... We have seen posters say that but interesting to hear him say it

Well, are the UGA insiders saying much about him? Do we know anything? Where is one of those butthead Dawg fans when we need them?

They dont show up when they are losing or about to lose a player. They only show up to bump random threads we have no interest in when they commit to UGA

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Jefferson said he has discussed taking his official visit to Georgia the weekend of Nov. 15 for its home game against Auburn. He said he also might take an official visit to Tennessee the weekend of Nov. 22 for the Vols' game against Missouri before perhaps traveling to Ohio State the weekend of Nov. 29 for its game against Michigan.
Jefferson said he “maybe” will visit Florida, too, and he’s interested in attending games at Florida and Tennessee because he never has seen a game at either school. For now, though, he has yet to schedule any of his possible trips.
He admitted his parents were a bit conflicted on which school he should attend before he announced his commitment to Georgia, and that’s part of the reason he’s still weighing his options.
“It was all coming from both parents,” Jefferson said. “But, at the end of the day, I had to make the best decision for me. My mom was just saying, ‘Ohio State was your dream school,’ and then my dad here is saying, ‘You can go here and play early,’ and he likes (Tennessee) coach (Butch) Jones a lot.” Jefferson said Jones’ staff has continued “telling me I can come in there and play right away” at Tennessee.

Interesting. I do think they need another WR in this class. But it's obvious the mother isn't in TN's corner at all. This sounds a lot like Richmond's recruitment. In both cases dad wants TN, the kid probably prefers TN, but the mother, who almost always gets the final say wins out.
