'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

And going...and going...and going. Not sure what he was getting at because there are true freshman studs in the SEC year in and year out...

I mean, when you constantly recruit the best players in the country to the best conference in the country, how will you not have the occasional freshman stud? And it's happened to every team. Not so frequently to us.

But we've had our few:
Cameron Sutton had a great FR season. Marquez North definitely did. Eric Berry seemed to never have an off day. Hunter's freshman season was awesome. Can't imagine how great his career would have been had he not had his SO ACL injury.

I think Coleman Thomas and Ethan Wolf are two names that have big years this year. Maybe not "stud" years....but very surprising years.

I felt bad for Josh Dobbs. Being #4 on the depth chart, there's no way he would have thought that he would have played his first year.

And I agree, that the first year in any system is rough. Luckily and hopefully, it will be the only system he knows while here.

I think there's potential there. He's bulked up a bit, and put in a lot of work. Definitely improved his arm strength. I don't know. Worley should be the guy come August 31st. But I think if or when Dobbs gets another chance, he'll be much more ready than he was last year. Last year was a freak show of a season. 3 QBs going down in one season, I wonder when the last time that happened was.

Not to mention Dobbs first games were @Bama, Auburn, and @Mizzou. What was he really supposed to do against those guys?? I think he'll look like a totally different QB this season.

I think what he was getting at was a true freshman QB who was widely considered a stud. Every player named in this thread has been at positions other than QB.

Matthew Stafford was the last true freshman that I can recall in the SEC who lit it up all season long. Bray showed his gift right arm off in the final 4 games of the season. Tim Tebow was not a great passer, but played a pivotable role in the Gators National Championship his freshman season.

Also he is top WR was a HS RB, his number 2 is now our 5th WR. He didnt even have a 3rd WR at time that was reliable. His starting TE is now our 3rd string maybe 4th string TE. True frosh QB with no help yet some douche thinks he has no chance of being good.

Name 3 true freshman studs in the last 10 years. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Edit: SEC true freshmen.

I got Matthew Stafford and Chris Leak. There are several others that were decent but the last 10 years is a fairly limited time frame.

One not so obvious reason we don't see many true Freshman stud QB's is because the best QB prospects go to schools that already have great QB's in place.

Not a prediction but with the weapons we will have next year it may be a perfect time for a true Freshman to have a Casey Clausen type freshman season.

do we have a true freshman next season? im thinking a true sophomore might have a breakout season :)

I don't think I saw enough to make a fair judgment. From what I remember, he probably has the arm to make enough throws and take the top off of a defense.

From guys at his tournament this week they said he has a cannon for an arm. Don't think making throws will be an issue.

This kid seems to have everything you'd want in an elite qb. Size, arm strength, leadership, intelligence.

I'm not worried about our QB position, he'll be a stud during his career here.

Can he read a defense and can he beat bama and UF? Those are the only things that matter. I don't care about is arm strength. Can he do those things?

so he will throw the ball to himself, punt, play defense and kickoff? this kid is a stud...

Peyton never beat UF,did he suck? is that all that matters with him? he won an SEC title, won 39 games, should've won a Heisman, but according to you,it doesn't matter...

Nick Marshall couldn't tell you if it was a 2 deep zone or man to man,but he was 15 seconds from a national title.... so explain again how he is supposed to beat them...

Nick Marshall plays in a unique offense that perfectly suits him. Ya Peyton couldn't beat UF, so what he beat everyone else. He will have great weapons at wr and rb... I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make.???? He needs to beat our big rivals.

I'll let the rest of the team know they they don't matter then.
