This was the last time we won an SEC title. Every other elite program in our conference has won one more recently. Yes I know USC hasn't won one but they have not been an elite program for that long. I am also aware A&M is new as is Missouri. Pretty depressing when you think about it.

I think we won an NC about 15 years ago, too. Has every other team in our conference won one since then?

Auburn, Alabama, Florida & LSU have either won one or multiple one's.

Ole Piss, Mississippi State, Vandy, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, A & M, South Carolina & Arkansas have not.

Hell, some haven't even won an S.E.C. Championship in the past 15 seasons, much less a National Championship.

We have been in the S.E.C. Championship game 5 different times. We beat Miss State & Auburn. We lost to LSU, Auburn & LSU.

Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky & A & M have never been to the S.E.C. Championship game.

Miss. State, UGA, USC, Arkansas, Auburn or LSU certainly have not appeared in the S.E.C. Championship game 5 times.

Every program you mentioned after your fist statement is new or not elite with the exception being UGA. And they have won one more recently then us .

The long term power houses in the sec are UT, Bama, UGa, Auburn, LSU, UFL....and I am aware that UFL did not become relevant until the 80's but that's long enough especially when you factor in the runs they had under spurrier and Meyer

I stand corrected!!!! Florida 10 appearances. Bama 8 appearances!! Tennesee, UGA, LSU, & Auburn have 5 appearances!!!!

Hell, we are lucky to even be in the 2007 one. We backed in because we lost to FLorida but Florida ended up losing two S.E.C. games during the season and we backed in.

In 2001, we were lucky that the U.T. vs. Florida game was postponed due to 9/11 and we had a chance to play Florida late in the season and beat them.

Had we played Florida early in the season, we likely would have lost and not gone to the S.E.C. Championship game.

So, I think we should feel fortunate to be in the 5 that we have been in. Imagine how USC, Arkansas, Miss State must feel..

For the 20,000th time, you can not back into a SEC title game. There are clear & present rules governing who represents the East and West. Only Tennessee fans talk such drivel. We WON the East in 2001, 2004 & 2007. Carry on.

Just because the rules are clear doesn't mean we did not back in. It is called the eye test and every year when it comes to the BCS it matters. We had no business being in the 2007 game for sure. We were not the best in the east.

You get into those games by winning out right. Backing into games is a conversation that I'm not sure holds merit.
