Bulldog Sports Radio interviewd his mom. I did not listen to the interview. However, on Twitter he quoted the interview and said "My mom always knows the truth so y'all should check this out" Obvioulsy his mom is the most important person in this recruitment (who is extremely high on Tennessee)

Yes Martha runs the show!! Very loved family by Lanier and North Gwinnett. They would be a great addition to the Big Orange.

Mrs. Brown claimed Tennessee got last visit bc it worked out with her work schedule....also said that they are not really familiar with Shoop yet...Keith seemed to put words in her mouth to an extent regarding Tennessee having to catch up the most to build a relationship, but she did agree. Despite that, this has an All Vol feel to it.

Did Neibuhr ask her if she had a relationship with Steele or if she cared that Auburn's DC was a crappy southern retread who just serves as a placeholder for schools in a hurry to fill jobs in January? Probably left that out, right?

Yeah it sounded like she was covering herself on the TN questions and trying not to give up too much info. The work schedule thing just sounded like a cover. She was trying hard on a lot of the questions period not to give up too much on what Brown is doing. She was about to say he has a pretty good idea where he is going but backtracked

The five-star defensive tackle from Lanier High School in Buford, Ga., is getting to know new defensive coordinators at all five of the schools he’s considering, and his mother said during an interview with 247Sports’ Kipp Adams on vsporto’s SEC Recruiting Buzz podcast that the new coaches at each school will play a major role in his decision.

Brown, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect and No. 4 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite, has taken official visits to three of his finalists — Mississippi State, Alabama and Auburn — and he’s scheduled to visit Georgia this weekend and Tennessee the weekend of Jan. 29.

“With the new DCs and everything in line, my thing is I don’t want him to rush this process,” Martha Brown said. “I don’t want us to rush the process. After the weekend we come from Tennessee, Sunday night we’ll put everything on the table and we’re just going to compare. And it’s only going to be about the coaches, because the schooling is already taken care of.

She said Tennessee “most definitely” will need to make the most of Derrick Brown’s official visit to Knoxville the final weekend before signing day because she and her son are less familiar with Shoop. “We have had a meeting with Coach Shoop. It was last week,” Martha Brown said. “And I got a chance to talk to him on the phone, also. Trying to get as much as we can.”

“The coach didn’t call me to actually set up the visit,” Martha Brown said. “We have to set up everything according to our work, depending (on) the distance of everybody, so it was pretty much based on just me and my husband’s work schedule. That wasn’t no particular order or anything like that. It was just based on work schedules.”
