VFJusting, this entire thread is dedicated to you and, hopefully, to your response to the following question.

You have voiced your outrage regarding the sixteen hours that it took the POTUS to finally authorize this strike. Here are some facts:

  1. The team touched down at the complex at around 3:30 PM EST.
  2. 3:30 PM EST on May 1, 2011 is 0030 on May 2, 2011 in Pakistan.
  3. EENT ran to about 8PM, in Pakistan, on May 1, 2011.
Would you have rather the assault occur during daylight hours?

If not, then your complaint is now over four hours, not sixteen.

Would you rather the assault occur while most of the individuals in the compound are awake or asleep?

If you answered asleep, then, on the assumption that these individuals probably go to sleep sometime between nine and eleven, your complaint is now over one to three hours.

Personally, I would rather kick a door in around two or three in the morning; unfortunately, moonrise was around three in the morning that day.

First of I am 99.9999999% sure Bin Laden is dead. But I have serious doubts about the way they say it played out. I don't believe any detail about what they are saying.

Me personally if it did go down like they say, I would have been fine with them flying over and just bombing the place.

What's the purpose in going in there and killing him but not release the photos for the people to see?

It should not take 16 hours to decide if our guys should raid the place. I will never have the responsibility in making a call of this importance but I feel very confident if I were called by our guys and said "Justin we need you help, we are 60%-80% sure we know where OBL is hiding, should be invade the place and kill him" I say hell yes, I don't need 5 seconds to think about it. I trust our military enough to handle it the right way and to make sure it's done correctly.

Works every time...unless those times are when OBL is in Tora Bora and/or the Sudan.

Dignity. The Congressmen and Senators who wanted to see the photos were shown the photos; there is no reason that you need to see them, unless you just have some sick perverse desire to see death and/or are arrogant enough to presume that you are of such importance that you deserve to see the photos.

I guess you could rush the decision for absolutely no reason. If the time is available, what is the point in not using it?

Thanks again for evading my questions.

Because theres no guarantee a missile gets it done ( see our beheading attempt in Somalia), and moreso, launching an airstrike on a point target, in a neighborhood, in a country that we're really pushing the limits with.anyway as to border violation, just bad mojo.

Plus, they then just say he's still alive.

Your response exceeds the five second time limit; ergo, it is not valid.

It had been almost 10 years in the making. Another few hours did not matter.

I'm glad that you weren't in charge during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Also, you do realize the computers, hard drives, papers, etc. seized has a high probability to yield invaluable information about al-Qaeda that would have been destroyed in a bombing raid rather than a human incursion. AND, the psychological impact (positive for MOST of the US public, negative on terrorists) of a human raid over a bombing run is significant.

No they weren't. I won't buy what the government is selling until they publicly release the data retrieved from said hard drives.

You call 16 hours rushing the decision? Hell why was 16 hours enough, why not wait a week or 2 or a month?

You show these photos so send a message, you harm the US it may take us time but we will hunt you down and kill you. They won't show the photo because this didn't go down like they said it did. Again, I believe he is dead but not like they are saying.

I didn't look at who posted when I read this. When I realized who did, I must say that your powers of sarcasm are very impressive. I appreciate that talent.

You call 16 hours rushing the decision?

In making the decision to invade a foreign country that you are not at war with, yes, 16 hours is rushed.

That said, the POTUS had a 14-16 hour window to work with (unless you are a proponent of a daytime assault into a compound that is five hundred meters from a military base in a sovereign nation), so he used the entirety of that time to make his decision. To anyone with half a brain, that is considered prudent. Prudence, according to the classic philosophers, is a virtue.

You show these photos so send a message, you harm the US it may take us time but we will hunt you down and kill you. They won't show the photo because this didn't go down like they said it did. Again, I believe he is dead but not like they are saying.

You want to show the photos to send a message; yet, you would not have authorized the troops on the ground instead opting for an air-strike?

You put an extra 's' in asinine.

Personally, I do not believe that Obama is the President. Last time I was in D.C., they would not allow me into the residential area of the White House to verify. And, the mass media, well, everyone knows that they never tell the truth and are just pushing the world agenda, which is set by Paid Masons (this is a higher order in freemasonry than the Free Masons).

agree with this logic. my issue is sitting on this so long (not the 16 hours btw). worked out well in the end, but bin laden had ample time to get out.

Only would have been an issue had we tipped our hand to Pakistan. Being that he had lived there for five or six years and we played this close to the chest, the time was incredibly inconsequential.

Someone needs to lay off the Michael Savage.

No way in hell I would listen to Savage.

I can see this forum got a lot more left since I quit posting. You all are like piranhas when a conservative posts anything, when someone posts anything that is not in lock step with Barry and company. I see why many I remember used to post here quit.

No dissent allowed, no criticism allowed.

You don't even have a grip on reality in relation to which direction this board leans (conservative). Maybe the criticism that you are receiving (from even right leaning posters) is an indictment on just how screwed up your views really are rather than another liberal conspiracy. (I am moderate BTW. I have a healthy disdain for all radical politicians and politicians in general.)

So thinking that the CiC did a sufficient job as to this operation makes me a Liberal? I'm far from it, but that's for another day.

If the President wasn't from the Donkeys then you wouldn't be having any of the issues you do with the way things went down, to me that's ridiculous.

I criticized Bush a ton for things i feel he did wrong.
