Almost on a whim, Kelly attended the Opening Regional in Dallas to see where he stacked up against other top Midlands talent.

He put on a show, running a 4.55-second 40-yard dash at 6-5 and 230 pounds, and the offers started to pour in from all corners of the country. Kelly eventually backed away from his commitment to the Wildcats -- he says K-State is still under consideration -- and now has more than 20 offers. Florida State and Georgia were the latest to enter the competition on Wednesday, joining other major powers such as Alabama, Clemson, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, TCU and Texas A&M. One veteran Big 12 recruiter said he believes Kelly will be in "the 40- or 50-offer range by the end of the spring" and also called him "the hottest recruit in the country."
