Guarantano said following the second full day of competition at the Elite 11 finals that Ohio State running back commitment Kareem Walker of Wayne, N.J., top-100 athlete Ahmir Mitchell of Egg Harbor City, N.J., and four-star athlete Jordan Fuller of Old Tappan, N.J., definitely will accompany him on his upcoming trip to Tennessee.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Guarantano said five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary of Paramus, N.J. the nations No. 1 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite for the 2016 class also could join him in visiting the Vols later this month.
Were planning to go back on the 25th the Orange Carpet Day, said Guarantano, who's ranked the nation's No. 105 overall prospect and No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the 247Sports Composite.
I know definitely Kareem, Ahmir and Jordan (are going), and were trying to see what Rashans doing with his team if he has team workouts and stuff.
Guarantano said he has been trying to convince the other top prospects in New Jersey to follow him to Tennessee over the past few months. He said hes particularly close with Fuller and Walker, who's ranked the nations No. 1 running back in the 247Sports Composite.
Im most tight with Kareem and Jordan, Guarantano said. Jordan is a guy that, he lives in my county, so were really close. He probably lives about 10 minutes away, so were pretty close with that. And Kareem has really been a guy that Ive known since eighth grade, so we have, also, a close relationship.
While Guarantano said its not my place to say how firm Walkers commitment to Ohio State is, he added that he believes Walker is looking around for his options. And he said hes optimistic that Walker and the other Garden State natives might end up taking a hard look at the Vols.
I hope so, Guarantano said. I think, as soon as they really get to Tennessee and visit, I think that their mind will really change about all the other schools. Well see.
