The four-star senior cornerback from Greer (S.C.) High School said he was excited to get his latest offer from Tennessee last week, and he said his final college decision could be even more difficult now despite his longstanding commitment to the Hokies.
It was huge, said Pride, whos ranked by 247Sports as the nations No. 248 overall prospect and No. 23 cornerback in the 2016 class. But, at the same time, its making my decision even more difficult now, because Tennessee offers a whole different aspect to football. Theyre big-time SEC football.
Coach Martinez is known for getting his guys in the league. He just read me off a couple of them. And theyve even got a guy right there now (Cameron Sutton) thats looking to go early on in the draft. That really just opens my eyes to a lot of things and makes me have to make a real grown-up decision on where I want to go.
They said that theyre looking to have about three (cornerback) commits in this next upcoming class and that they were looking to get their numbers up, and they had, like, a list of 15 guys that they had picked out that were on their radar, he said. I was one of the lower 15, and then they saw my film and I jumped up to the top guys they wanted.
I dont want to be so narrow-minded that I dont see the other aspects that can better me as a person, so Im definitely open-minded, he said. I hopefully plan to get up to Tennessee to get a chance to see the facilities and see everything sometime in these next few months."
I definitely dont want to be deprived of an opportunity that could bring me to the next level of life, so I definitely want to keep my options open and just at least see. It cant hurt anything.
