Gracias mí amígo.

Has a lot of major offers already for a freshman. Grew up a Duke fan, and wants a Duke offer. No joke

Tedarrell Slaton (whose name is misspelled in this thread title) fell in the latest 247 ratings to #71 overall. He is from the same school as 2016 signee Brandon Johnson and I would think he's someone we'll continue to be after. Given how OT is arguably the strongest overall position in the 2017 class, I believe it's important to sign 2 elite OTs.

247 shows Duke and Michigan as "warmer" for Slaton, even though FSU is considered the likely destination. UT may not be in the mix, so apologies for the bump.

Getting OT Trey Smith out of Jackson, TN is immensely critical to successfully address OL needs in 2017. This (free) 247 article does a better job than I could in listing UT's OL targets:

Beyond Trey Smith, I would guess that KY OT Jedrick Wills and GA OT (OG) Tony Gray are the other two strongest possibilities. Wills is the #7 rated OT on the 247 composite, followed by Slaton at #8, and Smith at #9 (although Trey will shoot up the composite ranking). Gray is the #15 OT in the composite.

*I thought we were a realistic possibility for GA OT Andrew Thomas but perhaps that was in my imagination (can't find a thread on VN, nor any indication of interest).

Dec. 22 update: Slaton has been more focused on his work in the classroom, so no official visits are scheduled (as of yet), but Michigan, Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Miami are schools on his short list.

If we could finish with him, Ray, and Akers this would be one hell of class. Especially when it comes to addressing needs.

Slaton told reporters at the one of the All-American games that he wants to play defense in college. He played both sides of the ball in high school so probably wouldn't be a big adjustment. With his size it would have to be DT I would believe.

Way too big for DE I do believe at 360 unless he loses major lbs. He was serious when asked the question because teammates thought he was joking. He actually does want to play on the DL. That could give us another DT but we would lose an OL in the process as well if he was to commit here. Thanks!

Slaton is like 360. What does that have to do with Cobb? He's athletic enough to play both. He prefers DL. He's also playing DL at AA practice. So, if KY said that's were he can play, that's what he believes. Plus, that was a different staff at KY for your reference.

360lbs seems big for a DL. Maybe a DT in a 3-4 to eat up a bunch of space and double teams?

He'll get his weight under control in a S&C program. He'll be extra tough when he gets down to around 320-330.

Not worth arguing with Tony. Assumptions are the enemy.

No an assumption Wick. He told reporters this after a practice at one of the All-American Bowls. Assumptions aren't the enemy. People trying to make stuff up are the enemy. :p:wink:
