Three-star junior cornerback AJ Terrell of Atlanta's Westlake High School posted on his Twitter account Monday night that he has received a scholarship offer from Tennessee.

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Terrell claims early offers from at least a dozen schools, including Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Kentucky and Duke.

He's ranked the nation's No. 731 overall prospect and No. 65 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class.

While GA CB William Poole III has slid quite a bit in the 247 rankings (he's still highly rated by Rivals, I believe), the opposite has been the case for GA CB AJ Terrell, who came in at #176. Early this year he was a three star and #731 in the composite (as noted above). I am not sure the degree of Terrell or Poole's interest in UT but both are from nearby Atlanta. Luckily, CB is a position where several highly rated prospects have shown interest and UT can afford to be picky in the secondary following a fantastic 2016 coupe.

Speaking of sliding in the rankings at the CB position, TN CB Gentry Bonds took a bit of a tumble, falling out of the top 250 (and out of the top 300). Considering he could be part of a Rutherford county package deal, I hope his slide is not indicative of his ability. I would anticipate Bonds being part of the 2017 class, leaving only 3-4 more spots for the secondary. We are after several great DB prospects again in 2017 (Deangelo Gibbs, JaCoby Stevens, Lamont Wade, AJ Terrell, William Poole, Trajan Bandy, Isaiah Pryor, Jeffrey Okudah, Tre Brown, Paris Ford, Marco Wilson, Gentry Bonds, TJ Carter), and Bonds is the lowest rated of all the prospects I listed, aside from fellow Tennessean TJ Carter. Admittedly, several of the prospects I listed may not be realistic but I would not be surprised to finish the 2017 class with Gibbs and Stevens, which would likely only leave 2-3 more spots left in the secondary.
