The Top247 junior wide receiver from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga., who has been committed to North Carolina for more than a month, said his visit to Tennessee “went great,” and he’s already hoping to return there again despite his early commitment to the Tar Heels.

“They’ve always been in contact with me, ever since I got my first couple of offers, so we decided to go check them out,” said Smith, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 185 overall prospect and No. 25 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class.

“It’s obviously a great school, but I’m still committed to North Carolina. It’s definitely a school that I’d like to visit again. This visit, my cousin took me, so I definitely want to get my dad up here.”

“the stadium was huge,” he said. “i’ve never seen anything like it before."

“i liked how practice was upbeat. All the coaches were pumped up. They weren’t walking around. They were actually running around doing stuff,” said smith, who claims early offers from tennessee, alabama, auburn, georgia, miami, michigan, n.c. State and kentucky in addition to north carolina. "i talked to coach z. He was just telling me that they really like me, showing me what position i would play and stuff like that. He got to know me a little bit better.”

“my dad, he wants me to keep my options open and see what else there is. He wants me to have the full experience of being an athlete,” he said.

He said he’s approximately three months removed from his knee surgery, but he’s currently ahead of schedule in his recovery.

“second game of the season, i tore my acl,” said smith, who claims to have been timed at 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash. “we’re actually way ahead of schedule. It’s been three months, and i’m working out and stuff. In january, i’ll start running.”

But that didn’t stop him from attending tennessee’s junior day in december. He claims early offers from more than a half-dozen teams, including the vols, alabama, auburn, georgia and michigan.
