I don't agree with 99.999% of anything you say, but this I can agree with to an extent. Although CBJ had head coaching experience when he came to Tennessee, he was selling the same thing Smart is selling at UGA, and that is the future and his vision. At some point, and for CBJ, that time is now, you have to back up that vision with some production on the field.
Jones has been selling his vision for three years now, and that alone has been enough to this point. But at some point, it becomes time to put up or shut up. For Jones, that time is now. For CKS, it's probably 2017 or 18 given that UGA was nowhere near the damaged product Tennessee was when Jones took over.
A lot of those bashing Smart are the same ones who cheered Jones' vision, slogans, and gimmicks in his infancy at Tennessee. Kirby Smart might be Derek Dooley 2.0, but he might be something much better too. We just don't know, and right now, he is doing a fine job (whether we as Tennessee fans want to admit it or not) at promoting the Georgia program and brand, and selling his vision. His shtick isn't all that different than Jones' was, but he may not have the leniency from the UGA fanbase that Jones has had from UT fans. Smart doesn't have to win the East in year one, but he better show improvement in year two or the honeymoon period will be over. Ask Will Muschamp.
