First and foremost, instate offensive lineman Trey Smith is scheduled to make the drive across the state to watch the Vols. It should be the first of three in-season visits to see Tennessee play for Smith. He plans to be back in Knoxville for both the Florida and Alabama games this fall.
As of now, the Alabama game is penciled in to be Smith's official visit weekend. We wouldn't be shocked if Tennessee tried to get him back on campus for an unofficial visit that weekend and move his official visit to early December. With a decision coming at some time in December, the Vols will certainly try and be one of his lasts visits.
So I coached against Trey tonight. Let me just start by saying he's a grown @$$ man. He took some plays off obviously because he can, but when he wants to be serious, he's unstoppable. There was nothing we could do. He's definitely got a mean streak, which is always welcome in an offensive lineman. Their offense is heavy pass so most of the time he's pass blocking, but when they run to his side he drives people off with ease. I know, cool story bro.
Ps. They played rocky top after the game. Foreshadowing?
Need a new OL coach too.
Think it's more of predictable play calling than anything specific to OL coaching. Debord about as good at OL coaching as there is. When Va Tech couldn't predict pass/run and we hit that deep shot to Malone the protection got more consistent to where Dobbs could at least make a play.
My scenario is bring in a QB specialist/pass game coordinator let Mahoney walk and Debord can be OC/OL coach.
East Tennessee english
Richmond definitely grew as the night went on though. Started figuring stuff out.
If Trey can't see the IMMEDIATE playing time at UT, then bless his heart because he's blind as a bat.
