People said the same thing about Jancek and Bajakian.

IMO it all depends on how the season plays out. If we're able to scrape together 9/10 regular season wins and a trip to Atlanta, he'll be safe.

If we go 8/4 again, Butch is gonna have to scapegoat some offensive staff members to keep the fanbase from turning on him going into a vital 2017 which he'll likely start on the hot seat.

Less than 8 wins and we may just see the offensive staff go through major turnover and Butch be forced to hand over the offense to a new OC who can bring in some of his own guys.

Well shat, I was hoping we could get thru 5-6 years without another coaching search/change. I'm bout dagum tired of coaching changes. We've had more CIA he's and players run thru our program the last 8 years that we had the entire Fulmer era..........

I think we'll get a new OC after this year and DeBord will probably become the oline coach but that's just a guess

Mahoney isn't a scape goat though. He is horrible. He deserves every criticism he gets. And Butch keeping him on is making me question his sanity. That idiot is going to get Butch fired if they don't win Saturday.

He's the weakest link and has been along side of Azzani. The thing is Azzani has improved this yr as has his unit. My question to everyone is when does CBJ be held accountable for this crap we watch and support? Jake and Jancek have been the fall guys but he has retained Mahoney and Azzani, then let guys who either ran his system or had a top 20 defense. Now DeBo is being bashed and once again its CBJ system.

If he doesn't win Saturday, he will be held fully accountable, and he will be planted squarely on the hot seat, IMO.

Richmond's total incompetence has nothing to do with any chip on his shoulder imo. He has the talent also, so that's not the problem. The problem is that his coach is worthless. He has no idea what he is doing out there. I have been wait and see on Mahoney..I've waited and seen all I need to. We should have a dominant, and at the very least competent OL by now. Instead we have an embarrassment.

Even then, the O-line improved when Debord was hired last year. That's why I keep saying demote Debord to O-line coach. Doubt anyone is beating down his door to give him OC opportunities. Then go get an OC that has a history of working with QBs. Mahoney is stealing a check.

Honestly I'd be fine with Debord as an OL coach and run game coordinator. But I doubt he'd take a demotion and let someone else come in and take over playcalling duties.

What else is he going to do? He wasn't coaching football when Butch hired him. He's not a hot coaching name who another school is going to poach. He was brought in for one reason only: to implement Butch's offense without putting his own stamp on it. He is absolutely a prime candidate for demotion.
