Joe Doyle, Farragut, Punter
Joe Doyle - Hudl

Two days after earning a preferred walk-on scholarship offer from Tennessee, Farragut punter Joe Doyle committed to the Vols on Friday. Doyle, a Knoxville native, grew up a big Tennessee fan. He is the second in-state punter in the Volunteers’ 2017 recruiting class.

Doyle was an Under Armour All-American after averaging 41.1 yards per punt in 2016. A 2-star prospect, he held offers from Air Force, Austin Peay and Chattanooga. Doyle visited the Tennessee campus twice in 2016. He had other walk-on opportunities at South Carolina and Middle Tennessee State.

At the camp, Doyle had averages of 52 yards per punt and 4.4 seconds of hang time to finish in the top 2 among a group of 200 punters. “It was the best punters in the country,” he said. “I originally got invited to the U.S. Army All-American (Bowl) at a camp. Then I went to the Under Armour camp and made it. I made my decision right when I got the Under Armour invite and immediately called (representatives from) the Army game to say I was playing in Under Armour.”

Daniels is one of my favorite players - punters affect the game way more than many realize! Dropping it dead at the 5 is amazing. :hi:

Sorry I was being sarcastic. I agree he's one of my favorite players too. I think he doesn't get enough credit because he was a walk-on and not a three star like bamas or Florida's punters

I knew you were being tongue-in-check - my comment wasn't intended to sound like I thought you were serious. Apologies. I was actually concurring with what I thought was your intent! :hi:

Nice to see local kids staying

Always good to have backups for kicking game since that is not just a position where you can take an athletic player and teach positon like moving WR to CB or something like that.
