I didn't expect it at all, Kamara said. I had talked to some of the Tennessee coaches before, but I hadn't talked to coach Jones. So when he wanted to talk I wasn't expecting him to offer. I don't really know much about them, but I have watched them play, Kamara offered. I'm interested in them for sure. Looks like a good school. I want to get away and go somewhere else. I just want to see somewhere else.
Kamara came to Phoenix from the Ivory Coast in Africa when he was in the sixth grade, and he said that's part of the reason he wants to play football and go to school in another part of the country. When I first got here it was tough. Now I'm getting used to it, but I want to experience other places which is why distance isn't a big deal for me in recruiting, Kamara offered.
As a high school senior at Central High School in Phoenix, Kamara got some division one attention as both Arizona and Nebraska recruited him. But due to academics Kamara's high school coaches helped him get to Arizona Western.
After recording 25 sacks as a high school senior, last fall in his first year in junior college, Kamara had 8 sacks and 45 total tackles. Kamara will graduate in December and knows what he's looking for in a two-year stay somewhere. I'm looking for a school that's going to give me playing time obviously, Kamara said. With only two years to play getting on the field quickly is important. I'm also looking for a place that I'm comfortable with the coaches and the school.
Kamara will not see any schools until he takes official visits in the fall. Where those will be is still up in the air. Nebraska and Louisville are two schools I'm interested in and obviously I want to learn more about Tennessee, Kamara said. They have a shot at getting a visit.
