Strengths: Armani Moore doesn't really have a position. You tell him to go out and play basketball. He's just a basketball player. He does a lot of positive things. He's a very strong player, and finishes well near the basket. He uses his athletic ability to get over taller defenders and does a good job finishing despite contact with his very underrated strength. He has a very quick first step that lets him get into the lane and he knows how to use the glass to put the ball in the hoop. Armani has moments of weakness, but he's a solid defender for a man his age. He uses his excellent strength and length to guard bigger defenders and is able to push bigger players out of the post. He can also guard smaller players because he has very good lateral quickness. Armani is an excellent rebounder, especially offensively. He gets off the floor quick and is willing to box out. He crashes the boards offensively and can make easy put back shots. Armani also sees the floor well and while he probably can't play point guard, he can still make nice passes when driving to the hoop. He also has very good defensive play making ability. He is very good at weak side blocks, timing the player very well and keeps the ball in play also. Money Moore also plays passing lanes aggressively well, and uses his length for a good amount of tipped passes.

Weaknesses: Quite frankly, Armani can't shoot. He struggles outside eight feet. He doesn't go up and down on his shot, and his release is inconsistent. Teams can guard him easily by lagging off of him. He also has no mid range jump shot to speak of. He is a bad (although small sample size) free throw shooter, and in order to play more, he must get better, especially since he is so good at attacking the basket. Armani also can get lost off the ball on defense and can't guard players that move off the ball well. He must fight better through screens and understand where the help defense is. Armani is a poor ball handler and can't use his left hand, which limits his ability to make plays. He also gets rattled when pressured with the ball.

Final Thoughts: Armani Moore is a basketball player. He doesn't really have a position, as previously stated, and that's not necessarily a negative. He's like one of those safeties in football you don't box in, you just let him freelance sometimes and just let him play. He can play 2-4, guard a variety of players, and can rebound very well for his size. He can make plays in the paint, and when his mind is right, play excellent defense. But he can't shoot right now, and that hurts him. He also isn't confident when dribbling. When you can't shoot and struggle to dribble, you become too much of an offensive liability to play significant minutes. If Armani can learn to either dribble past defenders or shoot the ball, with his great defensive/rebounding potential and ability to finish in the lane, he will be an excellent player for Tennessee.

Solid post... his toughness around the rim and ability to draw fouls will help off the bench in close games against tough opponents!

Good read again, zjc. I love Moore and really admire his athletic ability. Wish he could shoot or dribble.

Despite the pre-season buzz on A.J. Davis, I think Moore will get the majority of the back up 4 minutes on this team. He's just way more physically ready to guard other 4s than Davis, even if he is giving up 3-4 inches of height.

And, if Tennessee really does pick up the pace on offense, he'll be able to beat other 4s down the court consistently.

I've kinda been thinking the same, I'll have to see Davis actually beat out Moore to believe it, just seems hard to believe. If he has though that's definitely a great sign, and gives us great depth at the 4.

Saturday can't get here quick enough.
