'Three-star rising senior defensive end/linebacker Andrew Johnson of Tift County High School in Tifton, Ga., told GoVols247 on Thursday that he's planning to visit Tennessee on Saturday for its first preseason practice.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound Johnson said he will be visiting the Vols for the first time. He received a scholarship offer from Tennessee on June 1 and now holds offers from at least 20 schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss and Oregon.

Earlier this month, he named a top five of Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss and Oregon.

Johnson is ranked the No. 405 overall prospect and No. 27 outside linebacker in the 247Sports Composite for the 2018 class."

Maybe this is the unknown guy at DE we get for this class. Hopefully he's a great player. Has a Bama offer

Meanwhile, Tennessee continues to evaluate options at defensive end. With one pass rushing spot left, the Vols are targeting several Georgia outside linebackers who project as traditional DEs once they gain some weight. We’ve mentioned Caleb Johnson and Caleb Kelly in recent weeks, but Tennessee will host Andrew Johnson this weekend, too. The Vols offered the Tift (Ga.) County hybrid outside linebacker in June and are trying to make a push after missing out on Johnson’s Top 5 (Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Georgia and Ole Miss) earlier this month. Look for the Vols to replace Ole Miss in Johnson’s leader group and try to make a move this fall.

Shouldn't be too hard to get into his top 5. Just swap spots with Ole Miss. I suspect they will be falling out of a lot of top 5s soon, if they already haven't.

Agree that Miss should be out and Oregon is a pipe dream for a Ga. kid.

Tift County is 6A football in Georgia. Legit group that plays Lowndes (normally top 25 in highschool football) Valdosta Colquitt (Shawn Shamburger's high school). You don't play if you aren't really talented.
