'18 GA QB Trevor Lawrence

“I’d say Tennessee and Georgia are my two top ones,” Lawrence said. “Clemson is up there too, but they have two commitments in 2017 so I need to look into that. I like Clemson though, so I’m going to need to get up there and see what they have to say.”

Alabama recently offered and Lawrence said North Carolina is heavily involved with him as well.

Despite having plenty of time left to make a decision, Lawrence likely won’t wait too much longer.

“Right when I know, I’m going to announce it,” Lawrence said. “I’m not going to wait. I’m looking for a school with stability on the coaching staff, the right offense, and who they are bringing in as far as quarterback and other positions. I think I could play in a spread, but I’d like to in a pro-style offense because that’s where I think I fit best. I could play in a spread though if it’s a school I really want to go to.”

His comments about spread and pro-style, nothing about read-option. Hopefully we can sling it around these next two seasons. Really need to secure this guy. Sacrifice signing a 2017 QB if we have to.

With that said, if it comes to pass that we routinely land stud running backs and a powerful running QB and that happens to be our bread and butter then so be it.

Everything sounded good but the pro-style part. Still
Plenty of time. There's been a lot of talk about working in more pistol and I-form like we saw vs. Northwestern. If we look good mixing that in it should help IMO.

I personally would prefer a dual threat QB myself in this kind of offense that Butch runs.

Unfortunately our fan base doesn't know what type of offense we run. Passing QB's have been fairly successful with the "read option" offense that CBJ runs. Our starting QB is not a really gifted passer. He is adequate, but his gift is his legs and his brain. Not his arm.

I've said it before... let Dormady get PLENTY of PT this season when the game is locked down.... and chuck it around the yard.

Don't risk injury to Dobbs, and demonstrate that our offense can be altered to fit a QB who is not an impala.

Sheriron Jones will look good in garbage time. 😁😁😁😁😁

Makes me think Chaney has made up a lot of ground with him.

Why? Chaney isn't particularly known for being a QB guru. And the one QB of note that he's coached was in an extremely spread offense. I would be more worried if he listed Duke near the top.

Because Georgia is now a co-leader with us...looks like Chaney is telling him he's a better fit in his offense than ours, and based on his comments, he's buying it.

Yeah I read the article. Chaney can say whatever he wants, Butch can point to Chaneys actual track record. Starting with basically zero development from Bray in 3 years.

He won a lot of games and got drafted...No.

I'm one of the biggest critics of Bray you'll find. His development issues were mainly because he didn't have to respect his coach and his mental makeup. But the numbers don't lie, and that's what Chaney will point to.
