'18 GA QB Trevor Lawrence

UGA just flipped 2017 4* Rivals100 QB Jake Fromm from Alabama. UGA has signed the #1 QB in the 2016 class (Jacob Eason) & has now got a commitment from the #3 QB in the 2017 class (Jake Fromm). This news has to bode well for UT with Lawrence's recruitment. Trevor Lawrence has been very adamant from the get-go that he is looking to sign with a team that doesn't have multiple QB signed ahead of him. This is the same reason that Lawrence dropped Clemson down his list a few months ago. Look for Tennessee to firmly cement itself as the #1 school for Lawrence & land his commitment later this summer. JMO.

I wouldn't want any QB that is scared of competition. I don't think he is but anywhere he goes in the SEC will have top rated guys except Vandy.

Edit FTR: the only person I think Lawrence is scared of is a barber.

How does the N'Kosi Perry recruitment figure into all of this? Or is he being recruited for a different position?

It doesn't. We're going to take a QB in 17...all his current favorites are. Perry would be a very good pickup...at QB.

Nkosi would be a nice pickup for us but he isn't the type to make a guy like Lawrence flinch or think twice. UGA will have Eason and Fromm. Some think Fromm will end up #1 QB for 2017. Clemson has Hunter and Brice. when he mentioned early commit it really made me think TN because of these factors and Us really needing to hit on some of these WRs in this class

Gunnar Watson visited Tn last weekend, he is class of '18. I looked and saw no profile for him so I put it here because still lots of moving parts for QB's for 2018. Trevor will visit Clemson, UGA, and UT again before his decision in the summer. Expect Florida and a team out west also to get a visit before a decision is made.

Watch Emory Jones as well. Between the big 3 for Lawrence, whoever doesn't get Lawrence, one of the other two will get Jones. Big deal? Yes, he is already a top 5 QB and will push for top 3, IMO. Can be argued Jones is a better fit for overall scheme at Tn bc he is dual threat.

Excellent post secking. Bringing it my man!

HAMPTON, Ga. -- There are three in the top group for the nation's No. 1 prospect. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence (Cartersville, Ga./Cartersville) says Clemson, Georgia, and Tennessee are all "basically tied" at the top.
Tennessee: "That was my favorite team when I was little. My family lives there. I like the facilities and the coaches a lot, but they are all nice. I don't really have a leader right now."
Clemson: "Their coaches stand out. I would not say they are my favorite coaches that I have talked to yet, but I like them a lot."
Georgia: "I like them a lot too. I like the new coaching staff. Coach Jim Chaney and Coach Kirby Smart - they are great. I hope to get back up there for practice."

...

Clemson has two quarterbacks committed for the 2017 cycle already. Tennessee plans on signing one in this class. Georgia has one committed right now in Jake Fromm (Warner Robins, Ga./Houston County).

"I think they are only....I do not know if they are taking two," Lawrence said of Georgia's plans at his position for the 2017 class. "They told me they are getting one for sure, but they have not mentioned if they will go for one more or not."
The presence of Fromm and 2016 five-star signee Jacob Eason in Athens no longer fazes Lawrence.

"I am used to it," Lawrence said. "I want to go to a school with great players, so I just need to find the best place regardless of who is on campus. I think I can play where ever I want."

...

"I am just going to keep going back to those top three, check out Florida, and maybe a school further away that I am interested in," Lawrence said. "If I keep going back to see if there is some that that stands out more that I like or do not like, I should be able to figure this out."
Lawrence is visiting Tennessee March 26 and Florida either April 2 or April 9. He hopes to visit Clemson this summer, and is oing back to Georgia for a spring practice.

He says he's not fazed by who's on campus, but I'm sure that plays into it some. I bet that works into our favor from looking at the '17 QB commits at his top schools.

I read somewhere that Trevor Lawrence has been recruited by the Vols for years. He has strong ties with Vols and vol coaching staff. Really strong ties. So I think we get him if CBJ stays on top of his recruiting, and Peyton makes some calls and maybe a home visit. Can you imagine being in High School and Manning shows up to eat lunch with you...bazinga! Sign him up!

We would then be slapped with enormous penalties by the ncaa and lose all our big target recruits.

As a Cartersville grad, I know one of the favorite teachers students have there played and has huge ties to Clemson. He's also an assistant coach on the football team. That's likely a small factor as to why Trevor likes Clemson. That doesn't mean much though, as nobody has gone to Clemson from Cartersville under that coach, and he works with special teams and not directly with Trevor.

Georgia I think is our main competition, based off of absolutely nothing.

Figured I'd share the little info I know

I now have a massive headache after reading that first sentence.

😂😂 yeah I don't have a lot of time to post anymore. I post on the go a lot, so my grammatical prowess will suffer unfortunately.

I'd edit it but I've already been called out

Cartersville grad explains it. Sorry OF. love ya so just call me a MORON.
Hah it's okay man. All in fun on VN! Just trying to pass along what little info I had. It didn't seem pertinent until Clemson just popped into his top group. I know they have been for a while but it just registered in my brain

I am so proud of you guys. Had not seen it in so long and was waiting to see if anyone would catch it. I am a happy JacketVol tonight. As Sally once said, you like me......you really like me better than D4H and Bruin.

That's a pretty low bar, my friend. :)
