The Latest: Three-star safety Aaron Brule was part of the group of Louisiana prospects to commit to Kansas last month in a move that surprised many in the college football recruiting world. And while he remains high on the Jayhawks and committed, hes still taking his time to look at other options, chief among them, Tennessee. Rivals.com caught up with Brule over the weekend at the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp presented by adidas in New Orleans to get the latest on his recruitment.
In His Words: Its been real stressful. Every day I just pray on it and hopefully I can make the right decision for myself. But Im still pretty solid to Kansas with my guys Devonta Jason, Corione Harris and the others.
On the Vols: I talk to Coach Butch Jones from Tennessee almost every day. Coach Gillespie as well. They just try to be as honest as possible. They tells me they arent trying to sell me on anything, they just want to be serious and honest about how I would be a good fit there. They see me as a hybrid-type linebacker/safety. The Money Linebacker they call it. Just covering and being in the box to make tackles. They have had guys my size before and theyve done well so I could see myself playing in that scheme. I know I will be getting back up to campus for sure, but Im not sure when. I know I will be going back a couple more times during the offseason.
Rivals Reaction: Kansas fans know they are in for a fight to keep the Louisiana prospects committed so its not a surprise that Brule continues to explore his options. It will be interesting to see if he does indeed take multiple trips to Knoxville this offseason, especially after the success the Vols had in the state in 2017. Programs like Mississippi State are also hard after Brule.
