A big non-rivalry game during rivalry week: The ACC Atlantic Division all comes down to this. If Wake Forest wins today, they got to Charlotte for the second time in school history. If Boston College wins, NC State will get to play in its first ACC Championship Game in school history.

The Demon Deacons are more beat up than they reveal in their injury report, with 2 starting linemen being out (resifting their line), 3 starting DBs having not played the last 3 games, their starting RB out, their backup RB is out, and others (possibly a starting WR out also?...they make this difficult by not releasing their injury report.

Meanwhile, Boston College is still shying away from putting the game too much on the back of their QB Jurkovec, injuries to two DBs, a starting DE...and 32 unnamed players having the flu, missing 10 of them. However, if it comes down to having to run the ball more, this is probably the defensive matchup one would want to be in, giving Wake Forest's intense defensive struggles.

But let's be honest, it's probably going to come down to either (1) Wake Forest's awful defense making some sorts of stops or (2) Wake Forest's offense not making mistakes.

Second drive of the game, and despite a false start penalty at the goal line on first down, Hartman scampers from a pass-play, turning it into a QB Run without any leading blockers. 7-yard TD run up the middle to make it 7-0 Wake Forest with 8:31 left in the first quarter, following a 10-play, 71-yard drive.

Wake still having some trouble with balls getting tipped at the line. I wonder if that's more the result of having to reshuffle the offensive line twice, or how close the slow-mesh offensive system puts the QB to the line when he actually throws?

Wondering also how healthy Jurkovec actually is? He's under throwing deep passes with the wind to his back.

He did complete a 3 yard pass after Wake Forest missed another sack ( a seeming common occurrence over the last few games), however he then underthrows his WR again on a corner route and it's picked off by Wake Forest.

And a defensive holding and 3 plays later, TD Wake Forest scores on a 33-yard TD to AT Perry to make it 14-0 Wake Forest with 4:30 left in the first quarter.

NC State fans praying for a Wake loss

Prayers might sound about right. Boston College has repeatedly tried to put the ball in Jurkovec's hands, but he's under throwing balls to his WRs even with the wind to his back.

I'm not sure he's entirely recovered from his earlier injury.

And after Jurkovec pulls off a run, BC finally realizes that the running game is the way to go. BC pounds to the WF 14 before the drive stalls. And on 3rd down, Jurkovec is on the mark for the TD after Wake drops back 8 on defense. 14-7 Wake Forest with 41 seconds left in the first quarter.

And Wake Forest goes for it on 4th and 2 at the BC 40 and gets it on a pass to the tight end. The next play, though, an unnecessary roughness personal foul after the pushes them right back 15 yards and makes it 2nd down.

An increase in those kinds of stupid fouls have really become more and more of a problem for this team the last 3-4 weeks.

Wake Forest gets in range for a FG and the 45-yard attempt is good. 17-7 Wake Forest with 12:58 left in the half.

Seems like the BC running game is starting to get rolling. Wake's run defense is bad enough, they may have to commit more to the run.

And the most likely will have to. Even the QB is starting to run on passing plays. He has 19 yards passing and 70 yards rushing.

Wake Forest is able to snuff out a few runs inside the 20 and force BC to kick a 23-yard FG, which is good. It's 17-10 Wake Forest with 7:51 left in the half.

Big sack on 3rd and 10 by BC. WF will have to punt the ball on 4th and 14. The punt was almost blocked but they get it off and it's down at the BC 21 with under 6 minutes left in the half.

Time for BC to come out and just run it every play.

And Jurkovec has the ball knocked from his hands by the defensive end on a zone read, and WF recovers the ball inside the BC 20.

And a hold 2 plays later makes it 2nd and long.

And Wake's WR SLIPS AND FALLS IN THE ENDZONE. And the Boston College DB already behind him intercepts it inside the end zone.

With that 4:15 left, BC: (1) kept all the points off the board after that disastrous fumble, (2) gets plenty more time to try to tie this up before halftime and get the ball back, and (3) only gives Wake Forest's defense 2 minutes to minutes to rest during the last 8 minutes or so of game time.

Literally, all BC is doing is running. Even the QB. The one time they have to attempt a pass on 3rd and long, Jurkovec gets sacked.

Wake Forest starts at the 50 with under 2 minutes or so left.

And a 7-yard TD pass to AT Perry makes it 24-10 with 10 seconds left in the half.

Another Wake Forest RB hurt, though, it looks like.

BC gets a 33 yard run while trying to run down the clock to just go into halftime...but at halftime it's 24-10 Wake Forest.

That's one way for BC to make up for bad throws or an inability to accurately pass: cause a pass interference that leads to your WR getting concussed.

And then so poorly under throw it into the wind that the open WR ends up under thrown.

Wow, that was a hit. Jurkovec tries to spread the defense on 3rd and 24 before trying to run up the middle of field, and while he gets 14 yards...he got decked at the end. Wobbly getting up.

And Wake Forest immediately goes 3 and out in like maybe a minute of game time. Punt gets downed at the BC 2.

BC goes 3 and out and punts to about the 40 yard line, the ball is returned about 18 yards to the BC 22, and BC commits a facemark, so half the distance to the goal means Wake Forest will start this drive at the BC 14.

Wake gets to the BC 2, but after a false start pushes them back on 2nd down (and Hartman nearly throws an INT on a very poor decision followed by another incomplete pass) Wake Forest settles for a 25-yard FG to make it 27-10 Wake Forest with 7:26 left in the 3rd quarter.

After an illegal shift negated what seemed to be an 18 yard pass on 3rd down, Jurkovec gets sacked for a loss of 7 and has to punt the ball away. Fair catch around the WF 40.
