the madison (ala.) james clemens defensive tackle has blown by the one dozen offer mark and he is busy on the visit trail in the meantime. "i went to alabama three weekends ago, then mississippi state this past weekend," he said. "i'll be at tennessee march and then some others in summer."
the 247sports composite three-star, rated among the top 40 defensive tackles in the entire class of 2019, doesn't yet hold offers from either of the three sec programs. "praying for all of them, but mississippi state shows most interest right now," davis said, before expanding on the bulldogs. "well that was my third overall time down there, just love all around, good relationship stuff."
among the 15 or so programs already having jumped in with the first-team all-state selection, a program from the acc, sec and big ten is making an impression with the consistency of communication. "probably duke or ole miss and indiana," davis said when asked who is after him the hardest.
Of the three, he's only visited ole miss to this point, but added that he would like to get up to duke and indiana at some point before the 2018 season begins. He is in "absolutely no rush" with the college football recruiting process, but does have criteria in mind for separating one school from the rest one day.
"a home feel to things, surrounding myself with good people," he said. "having the field i want to major in, engineering or maybe even some medicine, and having a great program for it. A football program that works the hardest and is a family....also, i love to win my man."
davis' breakout 2017 campaign featured a whopping 110 tackles, including 13 and a half sacks. While performing in the yellowhammer state's highest classification, he also forced a pair of fumbles and recovered two more as a junior.
