The 3-star DL from Alabama was blown away this weekend. He said he really appreciated the there was not “sales pitch.”

Spent time with Pruitt (1-on-1 for 15 mins) and Tracy Rocker. Has already visited Auburn and Alabama. Likely to be at Vandy next weekend.

Among his favorite players: Robert Nkemdiche and Derek Barnett. Likes Barnett motor. Believes he has similar attributes.

Hopes to return for the spring game. Vols definitely a school he’s seriously considering after today.“

“it was my first time up there,” lucas said. “i didn't know much about them before the coming up there. I knew they had a great tradition with players like peyton manning, reggie white, and derek barnett.”

“i love how family based they are with things,” lucas said. “i love the fact that they didn't give me a pitch. They are honest and shoot you straight. Coach pruitt has tennessee going in the right direction. They definitely got my attention.”

“i play with a lot of energy,” lucas offered. “i chase down plays. Coaches like that i'm a hustle guy.”

“i started watching barnett when he was a freshman,” lucas said. “everyone started talking about him and reggie white when he started recording all of those sacks.”

“i have to talk to my parents but i think i will be back up for the spring game,” lucas said. “i didn't know what to expect, but they left a good impression. “i will consider them a great deal.”

I've never seen "family atmosphere" used so much in regards to our program. I love it.

Was used a lot in Butch early years before he went full scumbag on coaches and players. At the same time these are actually all bros. pruiit been knowing these guys for long time

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound defensive tackle had never been to Knoxville before the weekend. He enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with the coaching staff and other prospects.

The visit has made Tennessee a contender for Lucas.

“I could just see myself playing there,” Lucas told SEC Country. “With all the tradition that they have. I can see myself playing there.”

Lucas likes the vision and direction the coaching staff is taking Tennessee. He spent most of his time around the defensive coaches, getting to know them and their plan better.

Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt wants to change a lot about the program, and his desire to change the size and physicality of the defensive line is a top priority. The first-year head coach is trying to bring an influx of bigger players on the defensive line. It started with the Class of 2018 and is continuing into the Class of 2019.

Tennessee has been in pursuit of defensive tackle Patrick Lucas for a while now, and it has positioned itself well. He visited two weeks ago and plans to camp this summer with the Vols.
