Class of 2019 quarterback Hank Bachmeier got his first offer as a high school freshman, so he's no stranger to the recruiting game, but these days the 4-star prospect is seeing his offer list grow almost daily. One of his most recent offers came from Tennessee. An offer that Bachmeier says is intriguing.
Coach (Tyson) Helton is the one that offered me, Bachmeier said. "I know coach Pruitt's resume as a coach. I know coach Helton being from USC and I know his offense. He tells me that is what he is going to do at Tennessee. I also have a connection to Tennessee. My offensive coordinator actually coached Sheriron Jones when he was in high school and even though it didn't work out on the field, Jones loved it there.
To be honest, I would like to know more about the school, Bachmeier admitted. Distance is not a concern. It's really what is going to be the best fit for me. It doesn't matter to me. It's just a feeling.
After receiving his offer a week before Christmas, Bachmeier has continued to have dialouge with Helton. I talked to him on the phone a week before Christmas, Bachmeier said. We have swapped some texts and I have kept in contact with him. Coach Helton is coming to see me in the spring and wants me to come see him in the summer. I would like to go visit Tennessee.
Bachmeier's plan is to have a decision made before the start of his senior season in August, but he doesn't know his plan to get to that choice at this point. I have no idea. It's a really big decision, Bachmeier said. When the school is right and I have a great feeling. I will make that decision. It will be made before my senior season. I haven't dived into what I'm going to do yet. Over the holidays, I have just been relaxing with family and friends.
As for what school is right, Bachmeier said it just comes down to comfort. You want to be wanted. You want someone that wants you and makes you feel comfortable. You want a place where you are going to enjoy yourself. You are going to have to compete where ever you go. I don't want to choose a place where it's going to be miserable going to school there.
