The trio is headlined by Owen Pappoe, who is a 5-star prospect and the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker in the upcoming class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 5 overall prospect in the country.

Kenyatta Watson is a 4-star safety. He’s rated as the nation’s 13th-best prospect at his position, according to the Composite.

Amen. I was initially against it, but one can't argue with results, and I saw the light.

There are no results yet. He seems to be doing well in recruiting, assuming these players pan-out in the next 2-3 years. Butch had some good recruiting classes, too. I think it's reasonable to not be sold until after we've at least had a chance to see him coach his first game.

Butch's recruiting was MAJORLY overrated for a number of reasons. Take away the bumper crop of instate and legacies he lucked into that bought his snake oil and he was mediocre at best. As bad as he was he was literally the luckiest coach at the same time. With no Dobbs he would have been run out of town way before he was

I despise Butch but this is just incorrect.

He recruited Dobbs away from Arizona State. Sooooo...doesn't he get credit for the guy who made him last as long as he did??

Of course you are correct. The fact remains that Butch had very respectable recruiting classes that were filled with players that were coveted by other top programs. Pruitt is getting all kinds of love and that's fine. I want to support him, too.

I just think it's getting a little bit carried away to start citing "results" as evidence that he is the answer to our prayers. He has won exactly zero games during his career as a head coach, so I think it's fair to reserve judgement.

So he hasn't signed and/or secured commitments from any highly regarded players while he's also coaching? He hasn't hired generally highly regarded coaches/recruiters? He hasn't done any of that? I'm not commenting on games, as I said I didn't like him coaching because I thought it would take away from doing his job for us now, and he has provided the results he can in the off season to say that he IS, in fact, capable of doing both, and with apparent competence.

You are commenting on something I wasn't even discussing.

Must be one helluva high school team. Wow.

I was looking through a prospect list a few months ago and kept seeing this one school pop up. Its not a large base to draw from according to statistics but a lot of good football players there. Would be great to get our foot in the door.

but but but this is Bammers you're talking about how dare he......

I agree it's childish as F___ and it doesn't make Phil Fulmer less of a VFL for pulling for Alabama tomorrow.I'll pull for Jeremy Pruitts team against Georgia tomorrow and I'll support him while he's a Volunteer. The young men are the most important thing and without them there is no team.We recruit players from all over the country to wear the orange and white. We've already seen how easily supposedly born Vols like Cade Mays and Trevor Lawrence turned coat.Just like CJP said in his presser he wasn't drafted he chose to be a Volunteer.I guarantee every potential draft prospect will respect his decision as a man and a coach to honor his commitment to them through this season. They also respect his decision to better himself and his family just as they hope to do so in the future.

I get what you're saying and I don't disagree. It seems like he has done some good things, provided this class lives up to their rankings and he can finish strong next month. But then the real test comes. And the product he puts on the field in the fall will be the true test. Anything that happens before that is just hype.

We’ve already got an RS freshman named Mykelle McDaniel from there.

Butch could recruit, but sometimes I think he just recruited for the sake of doing so. For example, why go after Hurd or Dormady, who were clearly better for an I formation or pro-style offense, if he planned to stick with the read option all along? Or why recruit Kamara and then criminally under-utilize him?
