“I was very surprised,” said Honeysucker, who’s expected to be one of the top prospects from the state of Tennessee in the 2019 class.

“I mean, I could see it coming. I don’t have no film right now, but the camps I went to this summer — the Tennessee camps I went to — I did good at those camps. But I was pretty surprised.”

“I talk to Kyle sometimes,” Honeysucker said. “He was just telling me it’s a great place, it’s a wonderful atmosphere up there. He was just telling me to keep grinding, keep my head up and just keep doing what I’m doing.”

“That’s like a dream, almost, being close to home and playing at such a prestigious college," he said. “It’s a big thing.”

May '14: Honeysucker also competed in his first Nike SPARQ Combine, taking part in the Atlanta stop last month. His 53.97 SPARQ rating placed him eighth overall, and was the top rating of all seventh graders at the event. No other 2019 prospects finished in the top 20.

He performed well all-around at the combine, running a 5.01 in the 40-yard dash and a 4.93 in the 20-yard shuffle. He scored 31 feet on the power ball toss and 28 inches on the vertical jump.

Guys this kid came to NPA and started working with us and i was like geezus this is a physical specimen. I thought he was like a hs Sr, only to find out he was very young. To say the least he was athletic as hell and ver high strong. The sky is the limit for Honeysuckle and I know Coach Lopez is in heaven having him.
