CLASS OF 19

Trevis Hopper, Memphis Central, Defensive Tackle

"Freshman defensive lineman Trevis Hopper of Memphis (Tenn.) Central High School received his first scholarship offer from Tennessee on Sunday, less than 10 days after he played in the first game of his high-school career."

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Hopper is expected to be one of the top prospects from the state of Tennessee in the 2019 class.

He played in his first high-school game Aug. 21 at Memphis University School.

Vols defensive line coach Steve Stripling and director of player personnel Bob Welton reached out to one of Hopper's coaches Sunday to extend the offer.

And this is how you recruit successfully year in and year out… You get in on elite talent early and build those relationships.

2019, I can't even, bro, at this point.

I'm already really excited about 2018. An early commit from an elite legacy and leading for the #1 QB in the country have a lot to do with that though. 2019 does seem ridiculously far off ATP.

To all those questioning this:

The '16 class will be full soon
The '17 class core will soon be in place
The '18 class is building steam

Why not get out in front on the '19 class?

Butch Jones. I'm glad he's in charge.

Time to resurrect this thread. Hopper's now a consensus 4-star & top-200 prospect nationally.

Nov. '16: Hopper — the standout defensive lineman at Central — was one of five Shelby County players who won Tennessee Titans Mr. Football awards. The highly regarded sophomore won in the 5A lineman category. "It's awesome," he said. "It's been a great experience ... being here with all these great players. I have had a fantastic time and I maybe I'll have a chance to get here again." Hopper, who is one of the top defensive lineman prospects nationally in the class of 2019, recorded 58 tackles (18 for lost yardage) and nine sacks while leading the Warriors to a 10-2 record.

Mar. '17: Trevis Hopper, DT/DE, Memphis (Tenn.) Central -- a potentially position- and scheme-versatile defensive lineman in the 2019 class, Hopper is one of the top overall prospects in the state of Tennessee. Hopper showed consistency against blockers of all types. He got off of the line relatively quickly and looked to change leverage early in reps, often successfully. Hopper also used his hands better than most underclassmen in what was a workman-like afternoon.

fayetteville - memphis (tenn.) central three-star defensive tackle trevis hopper was the first commitment for arkansas in the class of 2019. He is now the first decommitment as well.

Rumors had started to surround his commitment since he removed all his arkansas stuff on his twitter. He also tweeted out, "stay on watch for april 13." that is his lone tweet now. Hopper declined to give a reason when asked about his decommitment. On feb. 24, he had plenty of things to say about why he was choosing the hogs following a prospect day visit.

"i consider myself a leader," hopper said. "if i've got to be the first one to do it and they've got to follow i will continue that path through college. It's a big situation for me. I feel like if i've done committed that will make me do the right thing because some will follow my footsteps."

one of the rumors in recent days is a particular family member wants him at ole miss and closer to home. When he committed he had his entire family with him. "that's why i brought them with me so they could see and feel what i'm feeling," hopper said. "they saw the facilities too."

he had committed to the razorbacks over tennessee, clemson, georgia, ole miss, auburn, louisville, memphis, miami and mississippi state. Hopper has a grade of 87 with the 247composite. Arkansas now is down to two commitments with tyler (texas) lee three-star offensive tackle beaux limmer and rison (ark.) three-star athlete malik chavis.
