They need this.

Of course, the teachers' union would be able to correct this problem in no time if we just let them keep their collective bargaining rights. They'll just lower the required standard so that more kids pass. Problem solved.

Heard an interesting stat the other day.

If a kid cannot read well by the 3rd grade, it's basically pointless to think he will ever be able to.

So, if we're going to throw money at the problem, focus it on kids 9 and under.

Until big government gets OUT of education and lets those schooled in how to teach do their jobs, this trend will not just continue, but get worse. My mother is an elementary school teacher, and every year is flustered more than the last due to some new, stupid policy that some out-of-touch senator thought would be a good idea.
Just my :twocents:

Sounds good. give all 3rd graders a test if you cannot read well then you're shipped to a sweatshop. saves money and boosts the economy. Sarcasm intended.

I agree with Tiger. There should be a bigger effort to help when kids are still young. By the time they reach middle and high school, it is too late.

All pun aside, it is quite effective, even if it is inhumane as anything imaginable. Socially, it is breeding unrest. (AKA China's Achilles Heel)
