#118 Wide Receiver Corp is shaping up to be stacked!
Potential Super Stars in this group include but are not limited to: Marquez North, Jason Croom, Lavon Pearson, Pig Howard, Josh Malone (if he commits), Ryan Jenkins (from what his talked about)

X-Receiver

1. MarQuez North- Still young and raw but definitely showed everyone what the hype was all about. Another offseason and fine tuning of craft and he can be next Alshon Jeffery of the SEC. Arguably the best freshman receiver in the nation this year. Came up big when we needed: Will not forget that miracle one handed catch on 4th down vs. USCe. Sick.

2. Paul Harris- Quiet this year, i think maybe he is red shirted? Definitely has the measurables and can have an opportunity to have impact. It all depends on how he develops over the offseason.

Slot-Receiver

1. Pig Howard- Definitely proved to be the veteran of the wide receiver group this year, albeit some inconsistent play. Pig is a natural football player, regardless of where he lines up. With better scheming and utilization by the coaches, Pig can definitely be a dangerous weapon next year. Signs from the Georgia game show that he has football clutch in him.

2. Toss up - There have been a lot of good things being said about Ryan Jenkins, his speed and break away ability. Vic Wharton and Devrin Young are also in that mix of speed. Will definitely have some good competition here.

Z-Receiver

1a. Lavon Pearson- Coming out of Junior College, this guy looks to be a huge play receiver. From watching his film, he seems to be a pure receiver with great jump ball skills. I believe he will have a huge impact from day 1 and will surprise people who haven't seen before. Great speed and rare jumping ability combination can be deadly.

1b. Jason Croom- With Calvin Johnson measurables, Croom had big expectations, but progressed slower than expected. Croom began to become a very reliable 3rd down and 4th down short yardage possession receiver. Croom really began to show up in Kentucky game but also had flashes throughout the season of his potential. With more coaching and a more physical style of play, he can also become a very dangerous deep threat target as well as a great short yardage possession receiver.

If Malone Commits I could see him at either of the outside receiver positions, I don't know if he will be red shirted or not. A lot will depend on the progression and development mentioned guys above, but it's really hard to keep a 5* talent on the sideline.

I think the Receiving core is going to be fine. I'm more worried about who's going to get them the ball. Having tall Receivers doesn't mean anything if the QB can't get the ball to them. Worley started to throw a good deep ball before he got hurt. But Dobbs struggled to complete a throw past 30 yards. We have 4 QB's that have either talent, experience, or both. I think next year will show if Butch can put young players in a good position.

talent-wise we're getting to where we should be. and it'll just keep going up at WR. Just need them to learn their plays and go out and perform

Didn't see Josh Smith, Cody Blanc or Jacob Carter. racist?

Neither of those guys are starting material man. Especially in the SEC. I wish our FB program would stop falling in love with these sub par talented Knoxville kids. I know they dreamed about playing for UT but they just aren't good. Not trying to be racist but they aren't good. If you want those guys in you two deep you must like going 5-7 every year.

Don't forget Josh Smith. He had some big drops, but hands are fixable. He always found a way to get open.

I think Wharton finds the field as a freshman. He could easily play corner if not receiver. He is as fast and quick as any high school player I've seen. Immediately he will be the best kick returner on the team.

No his play making ability and his shiftiness. Granted he probably won't be near as good as CP but that's the type of player that he seems to be.

His play making style isn't similar to CP. Pearson is a straight line receiver with good hands, jumping ability and speed. CP was extremely quick and shifty especially for his size and good work manic from any spot on the field. If anything, Pearson's playmaking style is more similar to Hunter based on his ability to stretch the field and high point the ball.

I didn't forget that he had some big drops.:whistling:

I kid, I kid. I think he will get past those drops and continue to improve just like the rest of the young receivers.

Malone or Pearson over Croom. Smith will play. Blanc and Carter shouldn't see the field. And people need to stop pumping up Croom so much. Let him develop and be him . Yesterday he was Kelvin Benjamin. Today he has Megatron's measurables. If he doesn't have 1000 yards people will call him a bust. CJ runs a 4.35 or something KB like a 4.4. Croom is not that fast.
