Has a team in modern college football beat 2 top 3 teams in the same season ever? I mean in the regular season not including bowl games. Tennessee has the chance to be the first ya???

That's a great question. The only one I can think of is 2017 Auburn. They lost to #3 Clemson but beat #1 UGA & then #1 Bama in the regular season.

Season yes. R season?

98 team did, beat # 2 Florida then #2 FSU and 85 team beat #1 Barn and #2 Miami.

Edit: Not our first rodeo. Been there and done that and will do it again.

Why is it that Auburn is always the answer to questions like this?
Basically us since we have Bama as cross divisional game and the SEC west has been the only teams that are likely to play 2 or more top 5 teams in a regular season. Other conferences normally have 1 team that will be top 5 for a given season.

Big if---big. But we could theoretically beat AL, UGA, Ole Miss, and 2 of OSU/Mich/Clemson in playoffs. Add int Pitt, LSU, FL, KY for side dishes.

That would pretty much be your Top 5 for most of the season.
