I don't get it...why does Tennessee play its first game, then take TWO weeks off before the Florida game? :dunno:

Someone PLEASE give me a clue!!! :withstupid:

Really it's only one off week. Recently, we've almost always had an off week before Florida. I wish we could flip flop this game with one of the November games. The 2001 game which got cancelled due to Sept 11th was about as high profile as it gets.

I don't know why we always have the open date before Florida. Maybe Fulmer likes it that way. I agree about playing Florida at the end of the year. I heard we looked into moving that game but since the Gators already have FSU at the end of the year they wanted to keep this game early in the season.

so, are we going back to playing 11 games? or did i count those wrong? and, for the record...i hate playing the gators so early in the year, much less having an off week before the game :banghead:

The 11 game schedule is coming back because of the way the Saturdays fall on the calendar. The last couple of years have had an extra Saturday during the season, hence everybody squeezed in a 12th game. I think the extra Saturday situation comes back in 2007.

The gators don't want 2 losses that late in the season... it screws up their ranking and bowl bid.... they can bounce back in the polls easier with an early loss...the meat of our schedule is played in the first half of the season every year... all the kinks are worked out in time to waylay the kats and the doors. :gun: :gun: :gun:

There is also a bill in front of the NCAA competition committee to allow a 12 game to be permanent game each year. Last I heard the chances of passage was about 60-40
