2007 class has been cleaned out:
Kenny O'Neal 5*
Brent Vinson 5*
Chris Donald 5*
BJ Coleman 4*
Donald Langely 4*
Lennon Creer 4*
Ahmad Paige 4*
Rolando Melancon 4*
Darris Sawtelle 4*

A guy posted this elsewhere. Isnt that a trip?

It's not like any of those guys even remotely came close to justifying their stars. Lennon Creer might have been closest. I guess Sawtelle doesn't really count, since we'll never know how good he was.

painful to see that. Has anyone ever seen a recruiting class at any school that bombed out this way?? Any other school in the sec had anything like this??

btw, was Vinson really a 5*??

The '05 and '07 classes are arguably the most overrated in the history of college football.

Florida's 2005 class evaporated.

18 players were signed in 2005 and by the start of the 2007 season only 6 were even on the team as JUCO Reggie Nelson opted to enter the draft. To add insult to injury one of those six was a place kicker.

Star ratings are crap. Despite what Rivals and Scout say...UT could very well have the best class this year and it wouldn't be evident for a couple of years.

I don't want to say anything bad but this class was a total let down

yeah, that ended up being a bust-class too - but the fact that key players like Nelson, Louis Murphy, David Nelson, and Ryan Stamper were in that class makes it absolutely not comparable. We had essentially 1 player contribute from the '07 class, and the '05 class was an even bigger debacle.

Of that list Paige is the one I am most disappointed about... I just thought he was going to be all world.

Vinson was a 5 star at WR out of prep school. I think the move to DB was a mistake for the Fulmer staff. Surely he would have been better at WR than DB, because he isn't a very good DB.

Did Sawtelle just quit football? Or did he transfer somewhere?

He may have gone somewhere else but when he left the program it was reported that his persistent health problems had ended his career. I believe he had both shoulders operated on and never really got his strength back.

I don't think so. Vinson is a freakish athlete but for whatever reason can't get his head together... for that reason, it would have likely been worse at WR.

Thanks!

Sucks.
