I know it is rather early but I have some friends that are NC State alum and I was wondering if we are still scheduled to play them next season. They had heard somewhere that we dropped them.

By the way, I'm new to the board, so hello to all. :)

Season opener AT California won't be easy. They'll be returning almost all of their key players.

Glad to see UCLA back on the schedule. When do we get Nebraska? I know it is in several years. Also, don't we play Oklahoma and Oregon in the future.

2007 looks HARD, not easy. @ Cal, @ Florida, @ Alabama, plus we have problems with Georgia at home. 9-3 or 10-2 most likely.

2008 looks easier, but @ Auburn and @ Georgia will be tough. Who knows what happens before then, though.

Unless something drastic happens, the 2008 schedule looks pretty easy. Those drastic changes would have to be NC State getting a clue, UCLA learning how to play defense, or... the Vols falling completely off the map.

2007 is not a easy shedule. At Cal, at Fla and at Ala. Plus Fla and Georgia. As this season is a grind 2007 will be also.

Actually I think 2007 is a little easier since UT doesn't have to play Aub or LSU. I think that more than outweighs playing at Cal, Bama, and UF... especially since the best other team in the east next year, UGA, will be coming to K'ville.

UF loses 7 players on D and 6 on O if none of the underclassmen come out. Caldwell would seem to be a candidate... maybe Brandon Siler and/or Jarvis Moss off the D too.

If UF doesn't get it done this year, they had better hope Meyer's real offense really does work... because there's not much experience left on defense for them at all. They'll lose their QB and at least 2 if not 3 of their best WR's.

They shouldn't be nearly as good on defense next year and there are no guarantees for them on offense though they're probably hoping that Tebow really can walk on water. I think it will be a rough year for him. They'll have one experienced back who has yet to prove he's any good, a weaker receiving corps, and a much weaker defense.

That spells P-A-I-N. If he runs the ball 15 times a game plus the shots he'll take while passing in the SEC, he won't make it. That's too much abuse for a QB to take. Unlike Vick and Young, he's not faster than the LB's and Safeties he'll be playing against.

BTW, I wouldn't plan on Cal just rolling over next year like they did this year. They will undoubtedly learn from that experience.

Plus, there is no guarantee that UT will get that kind of burst again to take them out of the game. The good news is that Lynch will probably come out. They lose 3 o-linemen plus their best 4 or 5 defensive players.... on second thought it doesn't sound quite as bad.

Are we seriously already contemplating the next Cal game? You all are crazy. :)

Well, yeah. The sky has already fallen in on this season after 1 loss. Looking forward to next year is all we can do at this point.

Oh that's right, the season is over after the Florida game. My bad..

kinda like they were this year?

Yeah, kind of like that... except a little older, stronger, and wiser. Don't think that Forsett, Lynch, or Longshore won't improve before next season.

So... no... not at all like they were this year.

Hopefully Lynch will be improving in an NFL training camp by the time next year's game with Cal rolls around.

Why do so many Vol fans look forward to winning because the other teams will be weaker? Whatever happened to winning because you lined up against the BEST and beat the BEST?
